Despite his initial disinterest, when Stuart (Kevin Sussman) shows a romantic interest in Amy (Mayim Bialik), Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is forced to reevaluate his relationship when the woman who, at least after this episode, he can no longer refer to as not his girlfriend.

The rest of the episode involves the latest expansion pack for Mystic Warlords of Ka’a which involves introducing Old West characters into the fantasy card game. After initially scoffing at the concept, Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg), and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) find themselves forced to each fork over $25 for the game while Penny (Kaley Cuoco) drowns her sorrows in wine as the girls attempt to play Twister.

Sheldon’s dilemma is resolved in Sheldon Cooper fashion. First, without regards to others, he interrupts Amy and Stuart’s date with a proposal of changing the dynamic of their relationship. And second, he presents Amy with a relationship contract, which will no doubt cause her similar issues Leonard has faced with the roommate contract.

Although Sheldon and Amy’s relationship doesn’t change it’s nice to see the odd pair finally officially a couple. As to whether is the final stage of their relationship or the first step towards something more, we’ll just have to wait and see. Also worth noting is Penny’s increasing intake of alcohol which now looks far more like an issue which will need to be addressed in a future episode rather than just a comedic effect.
