The Lying Game - Bride and Go Seek

Everyone gathers for Theresa (Yara Martinez) and Dan’s (Tyler Christopher) wedding, everyone except for the missing bride-to-be who no one has seen since she left her engagement party early for her late night stakeout. Dan and Ethan (Blair Redford) begin searching for Theresa, but all they find is an empty apartment, her wedding ring, and other signs which point to her leaving town. Tensions continue to rise between both Ted (Andy Buckley) and Kristin (Helen Slater) and Alec (Adrian Pasdar) and Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) as each man continues to spend time with each other’s wife.

Worried about the timing of Theresa’s disappearance and what it could mean if the police tie Ted’s blackmail money to the murder she was working, Emma’s (Alexandra Chando) fears aren’t helped by the discovery that her father was out and about the night Theresa disappeared. Sutton comes clean to Emma about working with Rebecca and realizes Emma is keeping her own secrets from her twin sister. Doing her own math Laurel (Allie Gonino) figures out that Ted is Emma and Sutton’s birth father which makes her feel even angrier at her father but thankful to have a half-sister like Emma in her life.

Trying to prove to Mads (Alice Greczyn) that he’s done doing Rebecca’s dirty work, Jordan (Ryan Rottman) takes Alec up on his offer for help getting out from under his stepmother’s thumb. Figuring out Emma is trying to protect Ted, Ethan confronts her only to have Emma plead with him to give her time to prove her father’s innocence before talking with Dan. But after witnessing Ted’s angry outburst at the house and finding him digging around Derek’s grave for his keycard he lost the night of Theresa disappearance, Emma has second thoughts about her father’s innocence.

I thought it odd that Ethan and Rebecca each figured out (relatively easily) who Emma was trying to protect but Sutton could not. The wedding fallout dominates the episode as Ethan keeps the secret of the twins from Dan knowing that it might be related to her disappearance. I’m already bored with Thayer’s (Christian Alexander) relationship with Emma, but Sutton’s turn to distance herself from Rebecca and try to finally tell the truth (be it too little to late) is an interesting turn I hope to see play out a little more next week.
