The Umbrella Academy - The Majestic 12 television review

Lila‘s (Ritu Arya) past is explored in the episode’s pre-credit sequence which shows she was honest to Diego (David Castañeda) about what happened to her parents and how she ended up in the arms of the Handler (Kate Walsh). Tasked with keeping Five (Aidan Gallagher) safe at all costs, Lila will be forced to make hard decisions in the field between following orders and protecting the man she has come to care for. As for our unlikely trio, the set-out to find the gathering of the Majestic 12 (a secret scientific cabal whose plans may or may not tie into events which cause the apocalypse) whose members include Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore).

Luther and Alison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) finally find each other, although neither is willing to admit the harsh turns both their lives have taken recently with Luther losing her job and Raymond (Yusuf Gatewood) pushing his wife away. Highlights from “The Majestic 12” include the hallway fight between our trio and the Swedes, Diego running into a younger version of the woman he grew up calling mother (Jordan Claire Robbins), and Vanya (Ellen Page) using her powers to save the life of Harlan (Justin Paul Kelly). It’s the last of these, combined with Vanya’s decision to leave the farm, that forces Vanya and Sissy (Marin Ireland) to admit the depths of their feelings for one another. And, in one of the episode’s more difficult scenes, Klaus‘ (Robert Sheehan) misguided attempts to save the man he loves (who hasn’t met him yet) from going off to Vietnam (where they would meet) ends in disaster and the bottom of the bottle.
