Warehouse 13 - Resonance television review

Today’s Throwback Thursday post takes us back to a top-secret storage facility in South Dakota known as Warehouse 13. Although it never adequate explains the existence of the artifact in question, the show’s second episode does present an interesting mission as Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) head to Chicago on the trail of bank robbers using nothing but sound waves to commit several heists. With the help of Artie (Saul Rubinek) and a recording of the music, the agents are able to trace the sounds back to a once-promising musician on hard times (John Evans) whose nurse (Victoria Snow), daughter (Lindy Booth), and sound engineer (Peter Graham) are now putting to illegal use (albeit for a good cause that neither Pete nor Myka can ultimate fault them for).

The episode never explains just how the musician’s experimental phase created the artifact or why only the original record affects those that hear it. That said, the episode works well in showcasing the effects on those who hear the music. Along with the mystery of the week, with includes a guest-appearance by Tricia Helfer as a FBI agent not all that keen to share information with Pete and Myka, “Resonance” also delves into Myka’s dysfunctional family dynamic and lays some groundwork for the show’s later introduction of Allison Scagliotti as the person hacking into the Warehouse in her search for Artie.
