Wizards: Tales of Arcadia - History in the Making television review

While still working on quite a bit of world building, the second episode of Wizards: Tales of Arcadia is an improvement over the first as Douxie (Colin O’Donoghue) and his friends find themselves trapped in the past in the kingdom of King Arthur (James Faulkner) who it turns out is far less noble than his legend. While Douxie attempts to pass himself off as his younger self, Steve (Steven Yeun) goes into training with Lancelot (Rupert Penry-Jones), Jim (Emile Hirsch) gets thrown into the dungeon, and Claire (Lexi Medrano) becomes a handmaiden for Morgana (Lena Headey).

Douxie’s plan is to keep their heads down, get Jim released from prison, and acquire Merlin‘s (David Bradley) time map. However, things don’t go according to plan. There’s some fun here as the time travelers struggle to fit in and the twist of having Morgana not out for power necessarily but wanting to protect magical creatures from Arthur’s wrath offers an intriguing twist on the legendary characters as even Claire (who has fought against Morgana for years) finds herself looking on the witch as an ally to help save her friend.
