G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #284

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #284 comic reviewPart 4 of “Murder by Assassination” sends the Joes to Southeast Asia in search of the Cobra operative known only as Al Kawbra. The team on the ground consists of Chuckles, Sherlock, Lady Jaye, Multo, Black Hat, and Roadblock. Despite Sherlock’s first-rate tracking and deduction, the Joes are consistently one-step behind their prey who enjoys leaving explosive presents for them.

Most of the story comes from the Joes on the hunt, although we do get some panels from the perspective of Al Kawbra continuing to elude capture and make his escape with the deadly warheads (whose destination remains a mystery from our heroes).

Despite his appearance on the cover, Throwdown isn’t part of the team involved in the hunt as most of the Joe’s storyline highlights the skills of the new character Sherlock (with the others chipping in when the shooting starts). As for Al Kawbra, his face remains hidden in every panel suggesting his identity may yet play a role in the arc’s end game.
