- Title: Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle

Director McG‘s nonsensical follow up to 2000’s Charlie’s Angels goes bigger and dumber leaning full into cheap gags and T&A at every turn while sticking Natalie (Cameron Diaz), Dylan (Drew Barrymore), and Alex (Lucy Liu) in a plot featuring highly-classified data two random people are just wearing out in public on their fingers, and, eventually, revealing the former Angel Madison Lee (Demi Moore), almost as an afterthought, to be the villain behind the plot.
It’s nice to see the three stars apparently having fun because no one else was. Sure, like the first film, there are small moments here and there (mostly found in the many, many montages), but for the most part Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle is a limp plot crammed full of bits, gags, and overly-elaborate action sequences.
The sequel recasts Bernie Mac as the new Bosley, mostly to crack jokes to fill the many lulls the film keeps writing itself into, and, for some reason, Crispin Glover is brought back as the Thin Man, one of the worst characters from the first film, but never fully integrated into the plot.
While not the worst adaptation of the classic series, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle is both lazy and stupid. The film struggled to earn back its full budget domestically. Despite doing better overseas, plans for a third and fourth movie were scrapped, and it would be more than 15 years before a new set of Angels hit the big screen. The film has been released several times over the years on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray and is available to stream on multiple platforms.
