Murder Mystery Monday takes us back to the early 20th Century and another case for the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot to solve while on his travels. While vacationing with Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) in the Cornish resort town of St. Loo, Poirot (David Suchet) makes the acquaintance of Nick Buckley (Polly Walker). After hearing her recount a series of close calls, Poirot becomes convinced someone is attempting to kill her. Setting out to prevent a murder, however, Poirot’s actions only lead to a different murder taking place.
Polly Walker is the highlight as the character with far more going on then simply being a victim of an unknown attacker. Over the course of a double-sized episode, Poirot will uncover a secret love affair, more murderous attempts, the true motive for murder, and finally unravel a twisted series of events to discover that Nick’s cousin Maggie (Elizabeth Downes) wasn’t killed after being mistaken for Nick but the true target all along.
