“She had a bad day, one very bad day. Sometimes that’s all it takes.”

Edward Nygma‘s (Ronan Raftery) instability and escalation, including the murder of a former cop and flower shop owner in broad daylight, has an unexpected reaction on the victim’s unstable daughter (Fryda Wolff). After a schizophrenic break, instead of seeking revenge, she cozies up to the man who destroyed her world. The whirlwind romance, however, will lead to the kind of tragedy our hero understands all too well.

With her new personality taking over at night, “Thorn” becomes the new Bonnie to the Ridder’s Clyde, sewing even more chaos on the streets of Gotham leading to our would-be gang lord’s first run-in with the Batman (Hamish Linklater) and the show providing the sort of old Batman TV-show super-villain death trap requiring a last-second escape by our Caped Crusader.

In the end, it’s not Batman who puts an end to the Riddler’s crimewave. Instead, in a scene that forces the season in a new direction making way for a new character to take center stage, poor Eddie Nygma gets a brutal lesson in karma.
