Far Sector #7

Far Sector #7 comic reviewPicking up in the middle of the battle started at the end of the last issue, Far Sector #7 turns Green Lantern Sojourner Mullein‘s attention on the @AT (City Enduring’s cyber race that are nourished by the very things the Emotional Exploit removes from society).

While fighting the suped-up construction suits, it doesn’t take long for Sojourner’s @AT contact CanHaz to identify that the biological people in the suit are already dead and only hosts for the @AT controlling the attack leading the Green Lantern to journey into the network itself in pursuit of the criminals and get a better picture of their world.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #107

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #107 comic reviewThe Turtles scour the city for the missing children, coming across Mousers which lead them into familiar ground in the sewers. While they are able to take down the Mousers without much trouble, Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, Jennika, and Michelangelo fall prey one-by-one to the larger threat in the sewers: the Slithery.

With so much of the Turtles’ recent action taking place above ground, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #107 takes advantage of the Heroes in a Half-shell returning to the familiar surroundings of the city’s sewers and offers some great panels from artist Nelson Daniel.

Batman: The Adventures Continue #9

Batman: The Adventures Continue #9 comic reviewThe tale of Jason Todd begins here. Batman‘s second partner was skipped over in the Batman: The Animated Series run which featured Dick Grayson in the role at the series outset and Tim Drake in the relaunch of the show. Todd was a controversial character in comics, likely why the series chose to ignore him, but after teasing us with the character lurking in the shadows for several issues Batman: The Adventures Continue #9 finally gets things started when Todd’s stakeout of the Joker ends poorly leaving evidence for Batman to discover that his fallen protege has returned (although no word yet on how the comic will explain those events).

Darth Vader #3

Darth Vader #3 comic reviewLooking for answers concerning the fate of Padme Amidala, Darth Vader returns to Naboo with Sabé encountering a pair of familiar faces in Gregar Typho and Tonra and more painful memories.

As with the previous issues of the series, Darth Vader #3 presents several flashback scenes brought on by Vader’s retreading in the steps of Anakin Skywalker. The Dark Lord of the Sith grudgingly accepts the help of Typho and Tonra for answers, but gets more then he bargained with in an encounter with a Colo claw fish followed by betrayal in the dark oceans of the planet.

Red Sonja #17

Red Sonja #17 comic reviewRed Sonja begins her new role as general for the forces of King Jo’Khan of Khitai as she moves the child army into the mountaneous region of Venhya. Strategy is the main theme of Red Sonja #17 as Sonja recognizes the limitations of her forces and the challenges that presents against the superior numbers of her enemy. Choosing to take a nearby fortress through subterfuge before the larger force arrives offers the opportunity to defend against an oncoming force rather than fight against overwhelming odds.

Strategy and subterfuge only take you so far as Sonja’s plan works, allowing her forces to comfortably defend the fortress against the army… until the enemy burns their supplies to the ground giving them only rations for a few days leading to a stand-off with the enemy once more and once last crafty move by Sonja proving why the She-Devil with a Sword is not to be trifled with (even when the odds are decidedly not in her favor).
