Green Lantern #28

Although the cover teases a story involving Hal Jordan and Star Sapphire, the latter only appears in the issue’s epilogue and only for a few panels foreshadowing some larger danger coming. As for Hal, we get plenty of him both on Earth tracking down and terrorizing a criminal from outer space who had planned to terraform the planet to grow a valuable crystal (regardless of what that would have done to life on Earth) and on Oa where the Green Lantern is called in after an unexpected discovery is made by Guy Gardner and Sojourner Mullein.

The Phantom #1

Originally created nearly 90 years ago, the Phantom gets a new lease on live in this new series from Mad Cave Studios. All the pieces of the classic character are included here as we see Kit Walker protecting the jungle and verbally sparring with Diana Palmer in-between action. The first issue also takes to the time to show how the Phantom is part of the local community, not only as their protector but a loyal friend.

Marvel Comics kicks off another new anthology of tales in white, black, and red kicking things off with a trio of Halloween horror stories two of which feature the Marvel Universe’s most famous vampire. “The Trial” gives us a vampire who creates a popular phone app whose true purpose is to help vampires find and hunt humans leading to Blade showing up at the launch party.
