Entertainment Weekly is sharing the first still image from 2013’s Ender’s Game starring Asa Butterfield, Abigail Breslin, Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, and Ben Kingsley. The award winning 1985 sci-fi novel by Orson Scott Card (one of my favorites) centers around a promising new recruit named Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Butterfield) sent to an advanced Battle School in space for gifted children to prepare the next generation of military leaders 70 years after an invasion by an insect race known as “Buggers.” The film is scheduled for release November 1, 2013.

Here’s another trailer for Les Misérables which is set to Anne Hathaway‘s performance of “I Dreamed A Dream.” The film premiered this past weekend in New York to a reported standing ovation with much of the praise going to Hathaway who now appears to be the early front-runner in the Oscar race for Best Supporting Actress. Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, Eddie Redmayne, Isabelle Allen, Samantha Barks, and Sacha Baron Cohen also star. Les Misérables opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
