Just for you, or loyal RF readers, from time to time we share some good scenes from some good flicks. Here’s a couple clips smushed together of Jennifer Connelly singing (the voice is actually that of Anita Kelsey) “Sway” and “The Night Has 1000 Eyes” from 1998’s much under-appreciated Dark City. As to why we’re sharing this with you today, you’ll understand in a couple of hours.
Fresh on the news that the guy from Cocktail will be starring in a live action adapted version of the anime Akira comes the news that Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks have bought the rights for a live-action version of Ghost in the Shell. In 3-D no less! If the title sounds familiar you probably read Sarah’s review of the anime last week. The manga comic from which the anime, now the live action film, was adapted from is credited by the Wachowski Brothers as a major influence for The Matrix. You’ll know more when we do!

With it’s release as the first big movie of the summer only weeks away more and more Iron Man is hitting the net. Marvel has released two new posters for the film (which has earned itself a PG-13 rating) plus a handful of new wallpapers which you can download here (sign-in required). In yet another Judd Apatow produced romantic comedy Jason Segel (Marshall from How I Met Your Mother), who also wrote the film, is dumped by his longtime girlfriend played by Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars herself) and tries to get over the break-up, with the help of a spunky hostess played by Mila Kunis (Jackie from That 70’s Show), in the same Hawaiian resort she is staying at with her new lover (Russell Brand). Apatow regulars Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill also star. Check out the official site. We’ve seen it, and we’ll have the review for you when the film hits theaters everywhere on Friday. A movie with Jackie Chan and Jet Li? Sign me up! Michael Angarano stars as a kung fu obsessed teen who discovers a mystical staff which leads him on an adventure to ancient China to return the staff to its rightful owner, the imprisoned Monkey King (Jet Li), with the help of a drunken master (Jackie Chan), a vengeful beauty (Yifei Liu), and a silent monk (Jet Li). Is it just me or does this sound like a whacky Kung Fu version of The Wizard of Oz? Actually, the film is an adaptation of the classic novel Journey to the West. Check out the official site.
