Let’s take a moment to celebrate the return of Psych for a fifth season. The opener, entitled “Romeo and Juliet and Juliet” involves rival Chinese Triad families, kidnapping, and a pair of star-crossed lovers. Here’s a clip of Shawn and Gus stealthily tracking a ninja (and not so stealthily breaking into his lair). Great stuff! The new season continues tonight on USA.

Covert Affairs – Pilot

First days on the job can be hard, especially if you’re a spy. In Covert Affairs Piper Perabo stars as FBI Agent Karen Sympathy…wait, that was something else. Perabo stars as CIA trainee Annie Walker who gets thrown into the field for a special assignment. Christopher Gorham and Anne Dudek also star. Although the Pilot is a little rough in spots, I could do without the jealousy of Annie’s boss (Kari Matchett) to her husband (Peter Gallagher), and I’m still very much on the fence of the mysterious love angle, there’s definite promise. If you like the short clip take a gander at the rest.

Castle – A Deadly Game

The second season finale provides another slightly off-beat mystery of the week while toying with us over the possibility of Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle’s (Nathan Fillion) relationship moving to another level. I’m slightly disappointed, though not surprised, in the episode’s epilogue, but it does give you that shot in the gut to bring back viewers for another year.

Chill of the Night

If you’ve read your share of Batman comics you know the name Joe Chill, the man who forever changed the life of young Bruce Wayne one dark night in Crime Alley. With two bullets a simple thug changed the life of one small boy, and created Batman.

For the more lighthearted Batman: The Brave and the Bold the story of Batman confronting Chill might seem and odd pairing, but it works. In “Chill of the Night” the Spectre and the Phantom Stranger place a wager (who knew they both had a gambling problem?) on how the Dark Knight will respond to coming face-to-face with the murderer of his parents. The result gives us a fresh take on the classic “The Origin of Batman” Silver Age tale.

The Power of Shazam!

So you’re telling me not only do I get Batman in this cartoon but Captain Marvel, Black Adam, Dr. Sivana, the underground cavern with the statues of the Seven Deadly Sins, Fawcett City, and the Rock of Eternity, all in one episode? What’s not to love! The only thing missing here are cameos from Mr. Tawky Tawny and the rest of the Marvel Family (especially Hoppy).
