Preacher - Mumbai Sky Tower television review

“Mumbai Sky Tower” offers the return of, and sadly also the final farewell to, Fiore (Tom Brooke). With questions about the mysterious cowboy who continues to track the threesome, Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) head to Las Vegas to find the former angel now using his abilities as the magician of a Las Vegas casino. While I’m sad to see Fiore exit stage left, the episode is a terrific send-off for the character who in his depression commits suicide every single night to the delight of vacationers and Vegas locals. It’s also a nice change-of-pace to see Cassidy in an useful way for a change. The scenes between the pair work well, but also help reinforce to Fiore just what he has lost. Given another opportunity, I’m betting Jesse would like to rephrase the words he leaves him with.

Pretty Little Liars - Til DeAth Do Us PArt television review

The more television shows attempt to a super-sized wrap-up in a finale the more they seem to struggle with providing a fitting farewell. That’s certainly the case with “‘Til Death Do Us Part” which brings an end to seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars. To be sure, the end feels a bit off as the show already wrapped-up it’s major storyline by unmasking the Liars tormentor and then jumping ahead five years into the future only to introduce another unseen attacking playing with their lives in the same ways. While last week’s penultimate episode cleared the Liars of any criminal charges and brought an end (so they believed) to the games with A.D., the finale goes back to the well again not only with the return of their faceless adversary but also a reveal that includes twins. A rather forced next generation tease is also put on display here suggesting Rosewood is one fucked-up place to live and the trials and tribulations of the Liars might actually not be that special or unique after all.

“Let me pass on to you the one thing I’ve learned about this place. No one here is exactly what he appears. Not Mollari, not Delenn, not Sinclair, and not me.”

Babylon 5 - The Parliament of Dreams / Mind War TV review

Our Throwback Thursday post takes us back to the space station of humans and aliens all alone in the night. There’s quite a bit of world building in both “The Parliament of Dreams” and “Mind War,” and the episodes are connected though the presence of a new character in Commander Jeffrey Sinclair‘s (Michael O’Hare) old flame independent planetary surveyor Catherine Sakai (Julia Nickson). A third of “The Parliament of Dreams” deals with the commander renewing acquaintances while other subplots involve a sharing of religions by various alien factions, and an assassination attempt on G’Kar (Andreas Katsulas) by an old rival.
