Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #117

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #117 comic reviewI do so love this comic. The battle of the bands is finally here as Jennika and her group put on a show so good that Bebop and Rocksteady admit defeat without ever taking the stage. We also get peace between the Turtles and Karai and the end to future Lita‘s time travel adventure as events are back on the proper path allowing her to return home (and take a couple of guests with her as well). And that future, it looks mighty bright.

The issue is filled with several great moments from the victory of the band, to Koya‘s almost too cute for words request to return for future engagements, to Lita’s sweet farewells (I’m not crying, you’re crying!), to the start of a new romance, and to the tease of the return of a core character back to the main storyline (although in an entirely new context). The creative team event gives me a cool hero moment for my favorite Turtle.

Willy's Wonderland DVD reviewWhat if the animatronic characters at ShowBiz Pizza Place or Chuck E. Cheese came to life and started murdering their customers? That’s the basic premise behind Willy’s Wonderland. Nicolas Cage stars as an unnamed mute drifter who accepts a job cleaning up a rundown attraction in exchange for repairs to his car not realizing he’s actually the latest sacrifice to the evil robot mascots Willy Weasel, Arty Alligator, Knighty Knight, and the rest of their merry band.

Far Sector #12

Far Sector #12 comic reviewSojourner Mullein‘s mission at the far edge of space concludes in the series’ final issue. The City Enduring is on fire, and with only a limited charge left in her ring the Green Lantern has to attempt to bring peace before the civilization destroys itself.

In the end, it’s Sojourner’s words which prove to be the most powerful weapon in her arsenal as she is able to convince the leader of the fleet to stop the orbital bombardment of their own people. The issue ends with an unexpected amount of epilogue, with the Green Lantern remaining in the city to watch it begin to heal and the civilization begin to rebuild. She is also able to find a moment of happiness with one of her new friends before moving on to her next adventure in the current Green Lantern title.

Loki - Episode 2 television review

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) gets a job. For an episode that is mostly Loki doing office work, the second episode of Loki shouldn’t be nearly as entertaining as it is. However, this is Loki we are talking about. If the first episode of the series was all about Loki learning about, and trying to escape from, the Time Variance Authority, the second episode of the series is about Loki’s attempts to work with them to track down a different variant of himself who has been leaving a string of dead agents across time. Loki’s attempts to prove himself have mixed results, but he does discover the other Loki is hiding at the horizon of large disasters allowing for the introduction to the episode’s big bad.
