The opening to the Third Season of The Wheel of Time gives us the chaos of the White Tower when Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) is brought before her sisters and outed as Black Ajah leading to a battle within the the walls of the council as her co-conspirators are also revealed. Along with outing several characters as evil, and killing off a few as well, the sequences inform viewers that the struggle that’s been happening mostly in private is now moving towards open war. The extended open scenes also include the theft of several magical artifacts by the Black Ajah which will provide side quests for some the supporting characters not concerned the main storyline this season.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

The brainchild of writer/director Kerry Conran, 2004’s Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was an ambitious and stylish production featuring a small cast against digital background in much the way Sin City would do one year later. Capturing the feel of 40s futurism (such as that found in the 1939 World’s Fair) and the look and tone of classic serials and cartoons such as Fleischer Studios’ Superman – “The Mechanical Monsters,” it’s an amazing piece of filmmaking that despite its box office disappointment has earned a following over the past two decades.

Supergirl #1

A new volume of Supergirl begins here with an issue that does a pretty good job on hitting on several aspects of Kara and letting us know what’s going to be covered/included in the current version. Along with appearances by both Krypto and Streaky, Supergirl #1 also gives us Supergirl (very quickly) stopping threats in both Metropolis by defeating Princess Shark and in Kandor dealing with Lar-On on a rampage before returning to Midvale to discover something quite bizarre is going on.
