No Tomorrow - No Regrets

Filled with more crazy antics and crossing off a few regrets from their bucket lists, “No Regrets” makes serious headway in putting some distance between itself and last week’s episode which ended in disappointing romantic cliche. For Xavier (Joshua Sasse) this means righting a childhood wrong involving a stolen baseball card (which turns out to be harder than expected) as well as finally admitting to Evie (Tori Anderson) the true extent of his feelings. For Evie it means attempting to mend the fences of a childhood friend (Allyn Rachel) she abandoned in high school to be part of the cool clique.

Josie and the Pussycats #1

Josie and the Pussycats #1Archie Comics relaunches one of its most notable properties with an all-new Josie and the Pussycats comic book (the first ongoing series to star the music trio since the original volume ended back in 1982). Set in present day (or the Archie Comics version of it), Josie and the Pussycats #1 introduces us to struggling solo wannabe Josie, her animal-crazed roommate Melody, and Valerie (the new friend they make at the local animal shelter).

Brought together on stage by the shelter’s need for bands for its charity event, the Pussycats are born. The first issue also introduces the girls’ foil Alexander Cabot III whose actions will unintentionally help bring the trio together when her attempts to sow dissension among the friends backfires and makes them an instant success.

Doctor Strange

Doctor StrangeFirst introduced in Marvel Comics back 1963, Doctor Stephen Strange finally makes it to the big screen in the latest entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Marvel Studios has dipped their toe in the water previously with Thor and its sequel, this time the studio dives head first into the mystical for the origin of a neurosurgeon who became the Sorcerer Supreme (Earth’s primary mystical protector).

More notable for its look than plot, Doctor Strange is a visible smorgasbord of delight. After the perfunctory set-up where we’re introduced to a genius/asshole surgeon (Benedict Cumberbatch) whose life turns on a dime with a single event, we follow Strange on his journey to learn the mystical arts in hope of reclaiming what he has lost. That journey takes him to Nepal where he encounters the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and his understanding of the world is forever changed.

Following the basic layout of The Matrix, Strange moves from non-believer to the most powerful wizard ever over the course of the film. It may have taken Luke Skywalker three movies to become a proper Jedi, but like Neo the Doc only needs about 90 minutes.

Arrow - Human Target

“Human Target” ends the Tobias Church (Chad L. Coleman) storyline, kills Oliver (Stephen Amell), puts Diggle (David Ramsey) back into the field, and foreshadows trouble for our Mayor as the season’s favorite snarky reporter (Carly Pope) is given a clue about Oliver’s secret life in Russia. Of course Oliver isn’t actually killed in the episode, but his public shooting does allow the team to lull their adversary into a sense of false security, discover Church’s endgame, and then make a few plans of their own.
