Star Wars #24

Star Wars #24The Rebels arrive at Tureen VII aboard their stolen Imperial Star Destroyer discovering far too late the number of mechanical issues the skeleton crew has discovered in the past few days is actually the handiwork of Sgt. Kreel and his Stroomtrooper squadron. Jumping out of hyperspace without cannons, the Star Destroyer’s bridge explodes as Leia‘s team confronts the Imperials aboard the nearly-empty Star Destroyer.

The Harbinger makes its way through the planet’s blockade’s fairly easily, but without guns even the unpredictable piloting of Han Solo will only get the Rebels so far… particularly now that Darth Vader has arrived to take possession of his prize.

Supergirl - Survivors

Roulette (Dichen Lachman) wouldn’t have been a character I would immeadiately expect to see on Supergirl, but the show makes good use of owner for the underground fight club for aliens and heroes in “Survivors.” Not only does it give Supergirl a different kind of villain to face-off against (smart and well-connected), but the underground fight club also offers plenty of action. The episode takes its name from J’onn‘s (Miss Martian (Sharon Leal), and to a lesser extent Kara (Melissa Benoist) admitting what she has in common with Mon-El (Chris Wood).

Lucifer - Monster

A growing need to be punished for the death his brother Uriel (Michael Imperioli) leads Lucifer (Tom Ellis) on a downward spiral of guilt and depression. Compromising Chloe‘s (Lauren German) case by taking even more liberties than usual, Lucifer is eventually benched with only this alcohol and self-pity to keep him company. If last week was a major turning point in the series, “Monster” continues that trend as the Devil now sees himself as someone in desperate need to face punishment for his actions. Unable to be honest with Chloe about the cause of his malaise, Lucifer instead reveals himself to Linda (Rachael Harris) leaving no doubt whatsoever in the doctor’s mind just who and what Lucifer truly is.

Elementary - Henny Penny the Sky Is Falling

Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) investigate the murder of a mathmatician whose recent published work has thrown an entire industry into a tizzy. Usually using his skills to find sound investments for his firm, the victim (who ends up skewered to a wall) spent weeks on a scientific paper suggesting how the space community searches for and targets asteroids which could be potentially harmful to the Earth is wrong. While it will take nearly a decade to sort out the truth of the man’s work (which Holmes and Watson discovers may have ulterior motives) the detectives run in circles seeking someone who would have a legitimate motive for the man’s untimely demise.

Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse #1

Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse #1The new Firefly mini-series takes place a couple of years after the events of Serenity. Malcolm Reynolds and his crew are still flying, although after their network of friends was culled during the events of the film Serenity’s crew has been forced to take mostly small-time jobs.

The first half of the comic gives us the crew in action during a heist and look at life aboard the ship with multiple relationships in full swing, a toddler on-board, and Jayne feeling increasingly isolated from the rest of his teammates. These pages work both to set the stage for what is yet to come and act as a primer for those who haven’t been following the group’s comic adventures since the film.
