The Grinder - Giving Thanks, Getting Justice

For the show’s first Thanksgiving episode The Grinder jumps back and forth through the turbulent current Thanksgiving holiday and Dean’s (Rob Lowe) crisis of faith during the Thanksgiving of his final year of making the show that made him a household name. Wanting to have a real family Thanksgiving for the first time in years, Dean meddles to arrange a dinner his brother wants no part of which eventually causes Stewart (Fred Savage) to explain why he hates the holiday, an unease which isn’t helped by the arrival of Dean’s surprise guest (Clyde Kusatsu).

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #22

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #22The calm before the storm. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #22 takes a step back from the ongoing battle of Buffy and the Scoobies with all manner of demons being let into this reality by the stolen “Restless Door” to focus on relationships central to the series and lay the foundation for potential problems somewhere down the line.

While initially apprehensive, Willow finds the military’s offer to help use her unique knowledge of technology and magic to keep the worlds safe appealing. Buffy on the other hand is less inclined to forget her past dealings with the military as the comic teases a split between best friends who may be starting to grow apart. While the issue makes sure to bring the two women together before the end, the disagreement that caused the fight is far from settled suggesting it may return to raise its ugly head before the end of the season.

In a year which proved to hold as many gems before award season as during it, 2015 turned out to be a pretty good year at the movies. Limiting my list to ten there are certainly a number of films worthy of mention that didn’t find a place on this list including the best super-hero film of the year, a journey on Mars, Cold War spy intrigue, and the return of Star Wars, Charlie Brown, and Rocky Balboa all to the big screen. But enough of what didn’t make the cut; let’s count down the best movies of 2015…
