A new full-length trailer for Iron Man 3 has arrived featuring Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) trying to protect the woman he loves (Gwyneth Paltrow) and the planet from a terrorist known as the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). A couple of points: 1) I’m pretty mixed on the look of the Iron Patriot on screen, 2) The Mandarin without his magic rings sounds pretty unimpressive, and 3) Why does Iron Man’s armor look worse instead of better in each successive film? Who designed this look, DC’s New 52? Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, William Sadler, and James Badge Dale also star. Iron Man 3 opens in theaters on May 3rd.

Bones - The Survivor in the Soap

The Jeffersonian team helps Booth (David Boreanaz) and the FBI investigate the murder of a an immigrant from Sierra Leone whose remains were found in a barrel of hazardous waste. Looking for answers about the young man’s life, Booth has lunch with a friend from the State Department (Danny Woodburn) who informs Booth and Bones (Emily Deschanel) at the age of 14 their victim escaped his home country and was granted asylum in the United States. The team discovers the victim had several part-time jobs including working for the same immigration lawyer (Adam Kulbersh) who helped him become a U.S. citizen by helping new refugees make a fresh start in America.

The Flash #17

The Flash #17Although the storyline has overstayed its welcome by at least one issue (and maybe two), “Gorilla Warfare” comes to a satisfactory end here as the Flash battles Grodd inside the Speed Force, Iris and the other victims trapped inside finally make it home, the Rogues‘ heroic stand comes to an end, and Barry Allen officially returns to the land of the living (using a similar ruse to bring back Clark Kent after the Death of Superman storyline).

Co-writer/artist Francis Manapul gives us plenty of action for the finale and manages to wrap up quite a few lingering threads in the process. He also foreshadows what’s coming next for the fastest man alive which includes more trouble with Dr. Elias and the first appearance since Flashpoint of the Reverse-Flash (who sadly, like nearly every other DC character, has gotten a thoroughly awful makeover).

The Flash #17 is a good conclusion to an arc that I enjoyed much of but am happy to see end. I’m interested to see what version of the Reverse Flash we’ll be getting, but I can’t be anything other than disappointed by another unnecessary redesign of a classically cool costume. Worth a look.

With the discovery Marty finally understands why the boss’ (Michael McDonald) second in command (Lisa Edelstein) pushed so hard for Marty to get their business, even over the objections of Marty’s new boss (Bess Armstrong).
