The Futurama crew takes the day off for Oktoberfest but Fry (Billy West) is saddened to find out the rowdy occassion has become a classy, more civilized, celebration since he last got drunk at one more than 1,000 years before. Damien (Reed Diamond) is concerned about the sudden appearance of New York partner Richard Tafflinger (David Costabile) known around the offices as the “hatchet man” whose unexpected arrival causes Infeld (Malcolm McDowell) to cut his vacation short and return home. Tafflinger has shown up to inform Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) that an accusation of misconduct that has been leveled at them by a former client (Carla Gallo) and could lead to their dismissal from the firm.

A little more than 20 years after Arnold Schwarzenegger and director Paul Verhoeven worked together to give us a theatrical adaptation of Philip K. Dick‘s short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” Sony Pictures decided to tap Underworld director Len Wiseman for a remake. For fans who remember the original Total Recall, this dumbed-down remake will feel unnecessary and bereft of even a hint of intelligence in front, or behind, the camera.
Gone are the dreams of Mars and mutant rebellion. In their place screenwriters Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback give us a dystopian future where the Earth has become largely uninhabitable with the exception of parts of Britain and Australia. Australia, now referred to simply as “The Colony” is the condensed living quarters of all the worlds’ working stiffs including assembly line worker Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell). One of the only bright spots in the film is the imaginative set design that works in futuristic and ancient Asian styles into the creation of The Colony.

Sara (Hilarie Burton) shows up at the FBI’s evidence warehouse to ask Peter (Tim DeKay) and Neal (Matt Bomer) for help with a young widow (Laura Vandervoort) about to come into $50 million after the accidental death of her husband. When it turns out the widow isn’t a thief but a potential victim, Neal becomes her knight in shining armor while playing the con man to the business partner (Peter Hermann) of her recently deceased husband who will stop at nothing to get his hands on her millions.

The BBC has finally released a trailer for the first-half of Series Seven of Doctor Who hitting airwaves later this month. The new season will be broken in half with the Christmas special (introducing Jenna-Louise Coleman as The Doctor’s new companion) in the middle. From the trailer it looks like we’ll be seeing robots, dinosaurs, lots of Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill), Weeping Angels, and the return of Alex Kingston as River Song.
