green-lantern-new-52-11-coverHal Jordan and Sinestro deal with the fallout of their time spent with the Indigo Tribe as the ring given to Jordan by Sinestro now completely follows the Green Lantern’s commands, but Jordan’s joy is short-lived when he discovers Black Hand is no longer under the sway of an Indigo Power Ring.

I’m not really looking forward to Blackest Night being brought into the New 52 with Black Hand reclaiming his role as the Black Lantern, but he certainly makes a credible threat for the combined forces of Jordan and Sinestro. At least it appears Black Hand’s powers and plans apparently don’t include putting together a zombie army of fallen super-heroes and super-villains.

We also get further teased about the Guardians upcoming plans and the mysterious “Third Army” which will apparently replace the Corps as the heroes make a short trip to Korugar to search for the Book of Black hidden in a corner of Sinestro’s Bat Cave. Yeah, even Sinestro has Batman-envy. Hit-and-Miss.

Following up the recent cameo and TV commercial at the Olympics Sony Pictures has released the first full trailer for the 23rd Bond film Skyfall. In the new film Daniel Craig returns as 007 whose death is faked to allow Bond to investigate the the theft of the identities of every single undercover operative of MI6 from the from the madman who is apparently Max Zorin‘s creepier younger brother (Javier Bardem). Ralph Fiennes, Helen McCrory, Naomie Harris, Albert Finney, Bérénice Marlohe, and Ola Rapace star. The film returns Judi Dench as M and introduces Ben Whishaw as the rebooted Bond’s first Q. Skyfall blasts into theaters on November 9th.

In the August issue of Esquire actress Ashley Greene (Twilight, Pan Am, Skateland) becomes the latest in the magazine’s “Women We Love” series. The actress sat down with an interview with Tom Chiarella and a photoshoot with Brooke Nipar (which you can find inside along with a short video of the shoot). In the interview Greene discusses her upcoming indie film Butter with Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Garner, and Hugh Jackman, growing up in Florida, working on the Twilight movie series, and the actress’ naked body-painted photoshoots at the beach.

It begins with a dream of Mars and a construction worker (Arnold Schwarzenegger) with aspirations for another life waking up in bed in a cold sweat next to his beautiful wife (Sharon Stone). Director Paul Verhoeven‘s 1990 adaptation of the Philip K. Dick short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” might feel a little corny in spots (especially after more than 20 years) but it remains one of Schwarzenegger’s best films.

Despite warnings from a friend (Robert Costanzo) about rumors of lobotomized patients, Doug Quaid’s (Schwarzenegger) obsession with Mars leads him the Rekall, a company that uses memory implants to give its clients experiences of fabulous vacations including the chance to improve the fantasy by living out his vacation as a secret agent who will save the entire planet and fall in love with the woman of his dreams. Of course it doesn’t make too much arm-twisting to get Doug to buy the whole package. And that’s where the adventure really begins.

The first trailer for the two-part animated movie adapatation of Frank Miller‘s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns has hit the net and the results are… mixed. From what we see here the look of Miller’s version of a an older Batman look fairly well represented but my biggest concerns are examples of voice acting we get in the trailer. Peter Weller‘s Batman is far from the older, graveled voice I was expecting. Ariel Winter sounds okay as Carrie Kelly, although (whether it be her choice or the direction) the inflection and delivery of some iconic lines seems to be off (as in her first introduction to Batman). DC’s certainly throwing a ton of money at this (for a straight-to-DVD animated film, anyway) and given my love for the original property I’m certainly going to give it a look, but I do have some concerns. The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 hits stores on October 23rd.
