In the April issue of Elle Canada Community‘s Alison Brie sat down to discuss attending Mardi Gras with the cast of Community, embracing her sexuality, her wild side, Hannah Montana, her first role in a elementary school production of The Wizard of Oz, attending the clothing optional California College of the Arts, working with Judd Apatow and Nicholas Stoller on The Five-Year Engagement, and her thoughts on being single as a celebrity, marriage, and living life without regrets.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #8

tmnt-8-coverAs the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fight off Old Hob‘s army of Mousers, General Krang meets with his scientist and we learn what Krang and Hob are really after. They aren’t trying to destroy the turtles, they just want to get their hands on Splinter.

It turns out Splinter is the only pure mutant specimen that Krang can use to develop his own mutant army. Unlike the turtles and Hob who were accidentally exposed to the mutigen, Splinter was given carefully controlled injections making him the perfect prototype. With the turtles distracted by the Mousers, Hob is able to make off with their master.

As the turtles fight for their lives Casey and April have a heart-to-heart after training and April’s story of ninjas and a rat named Splinter leads to an introduction that the young woman will never forget.

Tons of action, a little more insight into Krang’s plans, and April finally meeting the turtles. What more could you want? Best of the week.

Morning Glories #17

morning-glories-17-coverThis issue returns us to the mysterious cave, this time from the perspective of Jade and Ike who wait and fight over the state of things while waiting for Casey and Ms. Hodge to miraculously disappear.

In terms of action Morning Glories #17 is decidedly lacking. However, in terms of actually allowing two characters to sit down and honestly discuss their views and question the odd occurrences at Morning Glories Academy this is the best issue yet.

We learn a little more about Jade’s past, the death of her mother, and how she views her ability to peer into the future. Despite Ike’s bravado and cynical taunts, he does manage to raise a couple of important points about Jade’s view of herself and the school. We’re also, quite unexpectedly, given a rather large hint at the identity of the mysterious ghost.

A strong issue, and a darn good read, that actually answers some questions as well as continues the mystery. Worth a look.
