My Adventures with Superman - Pierce the Heavens, Superman!

Jimmy (Ishmel Sahid), Kara (Kiana Madeira), and a comatose Lois (Alice Lee) return to Earth only to be immediately captured by Amanda Waller (Debra Wilson) ignoring their threats of an imminent attack on Earth. They are quickly followed by Brainiac (Michael Emerson) still in control of Superman‘s (Jack Quaid) body who gives the Earth the choice to kneel or burn. While the trio is freed by their Daily Planet brethren, allowing Kara to attempt to stall Brainiac, the real fight takes place within Clark’s mind as Lois struggles to get him to remember who he is, his home, his family, and those who love him.

Adventures of Superman - Mystery of the Broken Statues

Superman Sunday takes us back to the 1950s and a strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. More of a Lois (Phyllis Coates) story than a Clark (George Reeves) or Superman story, “Mystery of the Broken Statues” features a classic story of something hidden within a sculpture desperately sought after by criminals. Both Lois and Clark get on to the story separately, but it’s Lois who immediately latches on to it learning pairs of men are visiting various stores and buying up the same cheap ceramic statutes only to smash them.

Action Comics #1067

Action Comics #1067

Action Comics #1067 offers a tale from Superman‘s past when an investigation into a youth center getting closed down is interrupted by aliens known as the Gorathians. Superman agrees to fight the invaders’ champion, who he successfully defeats, but he’ll have to deal with the fallout next issue. The story works well enough (although I was more interested in the corruption angle before the aliens showed up), but I wasn’t wild on the art of Eddy Barrows for anyone other than Superman which seems to be going for a Neal Adams 70s vibe.
