The Mystery of the Dancing Devil

  • Title: The Mystery of the Dancing Devil
  • wiki: link

Throwback Thursday takes us back to a mystery involving the Three Investigators whose mantra of “We Investigate Everything” begins with a search for a young girl’s doll which uncovers a much larger mystery involving items stolen all over Pete‘s neighborhood. After Jupiter deduces that the thief is looking for a case similar in size which was squirreled away after a car accident in the neighborhood, the search takes them everywhere from spying on a local bully to talking with an expert on Oriental art and puts the Three Investigators in the path of a Dancing Devil searching for a rare statue of itself hidden in one of those cases.

There are several layers and misdirects to The Mystery of the Dancing Devil which Jupiter, Pete, and Bob will eventually uncover involving theft, forgery, ransom, and kidnapping (when they themselves are trapped by one of the villains). And before the end, Jupe will make deductions which will even surprise his friends.

WWE’s Problem with Roman Reigns

Despite months of building The Bloodline storyline and making Sami Zayn a popular babyface with fans, WWE have decided his match with Roman Reigns for the title will be at (what has increasingly become) a throwaway Premium Live Event before Reigns turns his attention to his “real” challenger in Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes (who I’d only give a 50/50 chance at beating him). Leaving him, or Rhodes if successful, no one else of main event caliber to feud with on the entire roster following Wrestlemania. How did we get here?

Action Comics #1051

Action Comics #1051 kicks off a new Superman-Family focus for the title with the family adopting Osul-Ra and Otho-Ra and showing up in force the opening of Steelworks Tower (which doesn’t got quite as planned thanks to the arrival of Metallo). The comic also offers not one but two ongoing back-up stories keeping with this theme. The first takes place during Jon Kent‘s childhood and the second centers around Power Girl attempting to understand her new powers with the help of Omen as the pair attempt to help a pair of Titans in need.
