Choosing to remain in Margrave to get answers, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) arranges a trap for the prison guard that put Reacher and Hubble (Marc Bendavid) into general population to get them killed during their short stint in prison. The meet turns out to be a trap on both sides as Reacher is jumped by two Columbians. Everyone leaves with some bruises and scratches but no more answers as to what is going on. After the Chief of Police (Peter Skagen) gets nailed to a wall and has his balls cut off (a familiar threat that was made to Hubble), the Mayor (Bruce McGill) makes himself the acting chief, hoping to control the investigation. However, this alerts our protagonist that there is something far larger going on in Margrave, which likely led to his brother’s death.

Sometimes a movie just doesn’t work for you. I didn’t hate director Jane Champion‘s The Power of the Dog but I’ll admit to being underwhelmed by the critical darling so many are quick to praise. Yes, it has a strong performance by Benedict Cumberbatch and some lovely scenery but it’s also saddled with a predictable plot and a host of single-note characters whom I never became invested in.  In fact, on my first viewing, the film literally put me to sleep.

Our leads are Benedict Cumberbatch as rough-and-tumble rancher Phil Burbank (the mean one), Jesse Plemons as his more genteel brother George (the bland one), Kirsten Dunst as inn owner and George’s new wife Rose (the female one), and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Rose’s nearly full-grown son Peter (the creepy one). The plot mainly involves Phil acting horribly to everyone and the eventual fallout of that behavior. The payoff of which, for me, wasn’t worth the time spent to get there.

Institute and the Emergency, the student-spies attempt to do well in their classes to earn “Messenger” status and access to the tower. With Constance (Marta Kessler) and Kate (Emmy DeOliveira) struggling to do well, and in danger of being deported, Benedict suggests the group do whatever it takes to remain in the institute, even cheat raising some among the group to wonder if they are indeed working for the right brother.

And yet another Arthur appears to enter the fray. Any chance this one’s not as crazy and warmongering as the other two? Well, not if the pattern holds.

Meanwhile, after deciding freeing a crazed water god may not be the smartest idea, Bridgette, Duncan, and Rose look for a worthy warrior in the woods who has no love of kings. Enter Robin Hood, who just might be able to keep the various King Arthurs busy long enough for our heroes to come up with a plan.
