The Book of Boba Fett – The Streets of Mos Espa

  • Title: The Book of Boba Fett – Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa
  • wiki: link

More of “Chapter 3” takes place in the present as the Wookiee bounty hunter Black Krrsantan (Carey Jones) is sent to kill Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) by the Hutt Twins, Fett increases his small band by taking on some cybernetic youths who have been causing trouble in the city, and a new threat to the former bounty hunter arrives. The Wookiee’s failure leads to the rather quick exit of the Hutts, which is somewhat surprising. The introduction of the less-interesting Pyke Syndicate as the new threat to Fett ties into the flashback sequences as well providing us with the circumstances that caused the bounty hunter to leave his life with the Tusken Raiders.

The Human Target #4

Christopher Chance‘s investigation into which member of the Justice League International may have murdered him continues as he spends the day with Blue Beetle and Ice. Most of the day is spent watching the two heroes team-up to stop a number of threats across the country, and with each one Chance finds himself falling more for Tora.

We don’t get the clue Chance is looking for to lead him in a new direction until near the end of the comic, when a drunken Ted Kord points him in the direction of another member of the JLI. However, the comic is far from fruitless as Tom King and Greg Smallwood continue to balance the nostalgia and film noir themes perfectly. There’s a reckoning coming, but the journey to get there continues to be a hell of a lot of fun. I don’t want this comic to end.

Although Clint (Jeremy Renner) will push her away again by the end of the episode, “Partners, Am I Right?” focuses mainly on the unexpected partnership between Hawkeye and Kate (Hailee Steinfeld). There are a lot of little pieces her involving looking into Kate’s crooked stepfather-to-be and his connection to the Tracksuit Mafia, the return of the LARPers, another run-in with Echo (Alaqua Cox), Kate guessing the truth of Ronin, and trap involving another item stolen from the Avengers which leads to the introduction of Yelena (Florence Pugh), which was teased at the end of Black Widow.

Usagi Yojimbo: Lone Goat and Kid #1

Recollecting the classic Usagi Yojimbo stories from the character’s first series, Miyamoto Usagi is hired by Lady Koriko in Usagi Yojimbo: Lone Goat and Kid #1 to return her recently deceased husband’s swords home from the village in which he died. Things get more complicated when Usagi discovers the samurai was murdered and his mistress, who loved him far more than his wife, has no interest in parting with the swords.

The reprinted comic is a tragic tale for the heartbroken young woman who meets the same fate as her love when she’s killed by her greedy brother who can’t ignore the reward Usagi is offering for the swords. However, he’ll face the greed of his “friends” who want a little of that reward for themselves, eventually beating him to death for it in the woods.

How I Met Your Father – FOMO

  • Title: How I Met Your Father – FOMO
  • IMDb: link

The spin-off brings the characters back together in a cliched romcom misunderstanding as Valentina (Francia Raisa) tries to set up her boyfriend with the guys the met in the “Pilot” episode to widen his social circle, leading to Jesse (Christopher Lowell) and Sid (Suraj Sharma) mistakenly believing it’s a setup for Jesse and Sophie (Hilary Duff). There’s not much of interest here in the swanky New York night club that looks like a cheap set, with Sophie and Jesse eventually agreeing to be friends while teasing the idea that they may possibly be a match for each other (i.e. Ted and Robin) when the time is right. Despite the subpar writing, Duff is doing her best to keep the show afloat, but she’s going to need help if this show is going to have any chance to become more than a trivia question.
