G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #272 comic reviewThrowdown (who Cobra still mistakenly believe is the original Snake Eyes) makes his escape attempt as the Joes continue to mobilize by land, air, and space. Putting pieces in place for the final three issues of the “Snake Hunt” arc, G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #272 features Joes in buses, planes, and deploying a satellite in space. Zartan and Destro‘s teams also rendezvous with the the Joe caravan and the Arashikage arrive in Springfield as well.

The only real action from G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #272 comes from our hero’s attempt to escape the Cobra bunker before Cobra Commander and Dr. Mindbender can turn him into a puppet for Cobra. Throwdown does fairly well against such odds, but with so much of the story left to tell, I’ll guess he’s not making it out on his own just yet.

Jill (Farrah Fawcett) and Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) go undercover as student nurses at a hospital where several women have been attacked by an unknown assailant dressed in doctor’s scrubs. With Sabrina (Kate Jackson) undercover as a reporter interviewing staff and Bosley (David Doyle) as a patient, the Angels can keep tabs on their three leading suspects: a pill-popping surgeon (Jack Bannon), an ornery patient (Arch Johnson), and the ward’s resident gigolo (Robert Lipton).

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to Scooby Doo, Where Are You! for another mystery involving some meddling kids and their talking dog. While digging for clams outside a close amusement park, the gang’s interest is piqued when the park suddenly comes alive without warning and an unusual creature begins stalking the attractions. “Foul Play in Funland” is the rare episode of classic Scooby Doo, Where Are You! where there wasn’t a human orchestrating shenanigans or any kind of motive to do harm. The amusement park setting offers some fun moments, a few of which would find themselves into various Scooby Doo opening montages. What Shaggy (Casey Kasem) suspects must be an alien or ghost at different times in the episode is revealed to be a malfunctioning android named Charlie.

Batman #92

Batman #92 comic review“Their Dark Designs” continues as Batman schleps around the captive Deathstroke all over Gotham City in the issue while dealing with lingering threats including the Riddler who takes the city hostage by placing it within a giant crossword puzzle, forcing Batman to find each word through a riddle. Batman? Not too worried.

Fans of Riddler should enjoy the banter between hero and villain. Even if I’ve not overly fond of the current look of the character, Riddler is in fine form here as writer James Tynion IV provides a number of riddles for the Dark Knight Detective to solve. Even Deathstroke gets in a jibe or two about what Batman is forced to put up with to keep Gotham safe.
