With so many different versions of Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey recently released, it took me a minute to remember which version this one was. The first issue left off with Harley returning to Gotham. Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey #2 focuses the first several pages on Renee Montoya attempting, unsuccessfully, to convince Harley to leave Gotham. Harley has other plans which involve ratting out the Joker‘s favorite hideouts to the cops (and getting her puddin’ arrested) all as a diversion that allows Harley to hit the Joker’s vaults.

The 50th anniversary of Scooby Snacks offers the gang a chance to tour the Scooby Snacks factory. It also delivers a mystery when key ingredients to making Scooby Snacks begin being stolen.

First, a mummy steals the “mother dough” from which all Scooby Snacks are made. Next, another monster steals the gold flakes for the special anniversary edition of the treat. Add to that a ghost scaring people in the halls, and Mystery, Inc. has a new case.

Reprinted from Scooby-Doo 50th Anniversary Giant #1, the single-issue adventure offers the basic Scooby-Doo adventure with the group searching the factory for clues, running from ghosts, and setting a trap to catch the culprit.

“Go to Town,” also known as “Jurassic Golf,” involves Super Dinosaur (Mac Heywood) using his new stealth suit to sneak along with Derek (Valin Shinyei) and the Kingstons for a round at a dino-themed miniature golf park. Along with the golf course itself, which provides opportunities for SD to show himself but be mistaken for a park attraction, the episode is notable for Tricerachops’ (Kathleen Barr) attempt to lure SD away from the humans and join the rest of the Dino-Men. She makes a pretty good pitch, and had Max Maximus (Marco Soriano) not shown up to start a fight with SD it’s possible Earthcore’s greatest asset may not have returned (though life under the thumb of Maximus would never be the T-Rex’s preferred vacations spot).

While still on the periphery of the larger story, and not willing to see someone take out Batman and ruin his plans, Jason Todd leaves just enough clues for Batgirl and Robin to show up and help lend a hand against the assassin. Although, did Batman really need their help?

Ghost-Spider #10

Another volume of Ghost-Spider comes to a close as the final issue in the series leaves fans with a cliffhanger and uncertain future for our heroine. Johnny Storm and Sue Storm finally show their true colors in Ghost-Spider #10 by attacking Gwen and threatening not only her life but that of her father if she doesn’t leave New York to its newest heroes.

Things feel a bit rushed and confused here, but that plays into Gwen’s own emotions after being blindsided by the Storms who use force, blackmail, and threats to push Ghost-Spider out of the way. Several parts of the ongoing story are left unresolved here. Does Gwen simply jump dimensions? What’s going on with that Gwenom suit that keeps showing up (but is never commented on)?
