Lost in Space - Infestation television review

The series third episode sticks to form as the Robinsons encounter a new threat which they overcome in the final few minutes. The latest calamity, caused by Penny‘s (Mina Sundwall) rash actions to save her family in the previous episode finds the crew’s ship sinking under the cracking ice. If that wasn’t enough, the ships engines are inoperable and the fuel is slowly being eaten by space snakes (which turn out be pretty cool). With his robot going to extremes to protect Will (Maxwell Jenkins), the question of how it senses different types of threats is still pretty unclear, the rest of the family sets about attempting to solve the problem which Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) considers leaving the family to die, but (going against type, for reasons that aren’t exactly clear) decides to stick things out for the last-second save.

Elementary - Our Time Is Up television review

While it appears we will need to wait at least one more week before Sherlock‘s (Jonny Lee Miller) condition has an effect on his performance as a consulting detective for the NYPD, the latest episode does continue to have some fun with the concept with the introduction of an old-school steampunk sensory deprivation chamber which Holmes will use multiple times over the course of the episode to help with his symptoms. Meanwhile, the murder of Watson‘s (Lucy Liu) old psychologist will lead the show’s other detective into considering a major life change.

Green Hornet #3

Green Hornet #3 comic reviewWhen Britt Reid, Jr. goes missing overseas things get dicey at home in Century City, both in the reporting offices and on the streets where the son of the original Green Hornet had inherited both of his father’s positions. With no Hornet to keep the local criminals in line, Kato’s daughter Mulan steps up as the new Green Hornet.

For a character that has been around as long as the Green Hornet it isn’t always easy to find new avenues to explore. Writer Amy Chu’s choice to jump to the future and make Kato’s daughter, rather than Britt’s son, the Hornet (at least so far) provides just the sort of shake-up that makes the comic work.

Remington Steele - Signed, Steeled, and Delivered television review

Today’s Throwback Tuesday post takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. When CIA information retrieval specialist Sheldon Quarry (Thom Bray) shows up on Steele‘s (Pierce Brosnan) doorstep after being shot at and followed, the private eyes have a new case. Thanks to the fictional history Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) created to fill in the life of the fake PI she created, which strongly suggests Steele was part of the CIA back in the day, Sheldon believes he is the perfect man for the job. And time is a factor as these attacks keep taking Sheldon away from his fiance Lucille (Alexandra Johnson) and their impending wedding.

The Flash - Think Fast television review

The penultimate episode of the show’s Fourth Season recycles both the good and bad of this year’s arc while setting up events for next week’s finale. Starting with DeVoe‘s (Neil Sandilands) break-in at the secret A.R.G.U.S. facility, Team Flash regroups and races against time as a reluctant Barry (Grant Gustin) gives Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker a crash-course in Flash Time in hopes of making the most out of the limited time they have left. Putting his friends in danger unfortunately means more of the mopey asshole Barry. Hopefully the team’s cathartic argument and successful execution of their plan (even if it wasn’t enough to ultimately stop DeVoe from beginning the Enlightenment) will cure our hero of more of this behavior in the future.
