Legends of Tomorrow - The Ex-Factor television review

Legends of Tomorrow follows up a horror episode with a goofy story featuring the team battling an alien assassin to win the future’s most popular singing competition. Returning to her own time, the episode takes advantage of Zari‘s (Tala Ashe) celebrity who tricks the unstoppable alien with a fleet of invading warships behind him that the only way to win the planet is to win the competition, a competition run by her ex-boyfriend (Ryan Bell) who is more or less a walking s’more. “The Ex-Factor” has some fun lampooning reality-TV competitions, which are really game shows, while stealing bits from various current shows to create “Da Throne.”

The Invincible Red Sonja #1 comic reviewA new adventure begins for Red Sonja starting aboard a plundering pirate ship whose victims include a princess on her way to a royal wedding. Although Sonja saves the princess from the pirates, the young woman escapes into the sea which turns out to be a better fate than the pirates who run into sirens and all die a horrible death. Still, it offers more enemies for Sonja to slay.

Fate brings the half-drowned Sonja and Princess Zaria together again, this time with the princess offering Sonja a job to protect her until the culmination of her wedding to unite two kingdoms. Sonja accepts, but from the prelude tease that opens the issue it sounds like this job may be far more difficult than she believes.

While her logic is more than a little National Treasure-ish, and her group of friends and family are bizarrely good at their first heist, things go with a few other familiar faces showing up at the museum including Zhilan.

The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #2 comic reviewAfter helping the Dynamic Duo investigate a haunted fun house at a carnival which turns out to be the work of the Joker and his henchmen, Mystery, Inc. earns a trip to the Batcave as a reward with their latest trophy in tow. However, shortly after arriving in the Batcave, the Caped Crusaders are threatened by the sudden appearance of a ghost (which for Shaggy is only slightly more scary than every other piece of the Batcave).

Although it takes a little while for Batman and Robin and the gang to figure out what is causing the ghost, especially given the large clue that both the bats and Scooby-Doo deliver, eventually the cause of the craziness leads back to the item the group brought into the cave..

Legends of Tomorrow - Meat: The Legends television review

The search for the missing Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) continues as the Legends track an alien to 1950s San Bernadino in the hopes that Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) can communicate with it and lead the team back to their missing captain. There’s strong horror vibes in the creepy “Meat: The Legends,” without ever capturing that old 50ss sci-fi B-movie vibe, as the search for the alien leads the team to a local burger joint and the secret sauce which turns out to be made from the secretions of a giant alien wasp gestating in a cocoon. The episode’s B-story picks up with Sara and Gary (Adam Tsekhman) who have crashlanded on an alien world where they meet Amelia Earhart (Jen Oleksiuk), or some monster pretending to be her, while searching for answers about where they are and how they might make it home.
