The Hesitation Ramification

What should have been a happy night to watch and enjoy Penny‘s (Kaley Cuoco) big break with a small role in an episode of NCIS ends in misery for both Penny, when she discovers her only scene was cut from the episode, and for Leonard (Johnny Galecki), who manages to stick both feet in his mouth while attempting to offer his girlfriend support. His hesitation later when his drunken girlfriend proposes to him doesn’t earn him any points either.

WWE 2K14Released at the end of October, the WWE’s latest wrestling game, created by Yuke’s & Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, includes a varied collection of gameplay (both online and off), one of the largest rosters to date, and an increased ability to customize rosters, titles, and more in the “My WWE” section of the game. However, in terms of gameplay it’s far less satisfying than the previous WWE_SmackDown! vs. Raw series.

The strength of WWE 2K14 comes from its varied roster composed both of current WWE Superstars and former wrestlers including and The Ultimate Warrior (available as a pre-order download). However, to get several of the Superstars you are going to have to kick-in some extra cash to download them at various later dates (meaning over two-months after its release several members of the game’s roster still have yet to be made available).

G.I. JOE: The Cobra Files #9

G.I. JOE: The Cobra Files #9G.I. JOE: The Cobra Files comes to a close with a very talky final issue. Tomax, in the role of Bond villain, is given most of the issue to strut and share his genius with Chameleon. However, unlike Bond films, in this issue (and the series overall) the villain really does win.

As Tomax remarks, I’m not sure where the end of the comic leaves Chameleon who would be seen as untrustworthy (at best) by both Cobra and G.I. JOE following her defection to the JOEs and her unintentional role in the destruction of Flint‘s team.

Although we know Flint, Tomax, Chameleon (and possibly Lady Jaye) all make it out before the JOEs base is reduced to rubble the final fate of the rest of the team is far less certain, including the computer expert Clockspring whose development much of the series centered around. It’s not a great final issue, but it does wrap-up the major storyline and leave the door open to new possibilities for all of these characters (at least the ones who aren’t buried under tons of rubble). For fans.

47 RoninIt has been said the story of the Forty-seven Ronin is the definitive Japanese tale dealing with themes on honor, revenge, and the code of Bushidō. Although the events described in the tale actually took place, over the years the story has morphed into something between legend and a morality tale, however the new film certainly takes the licence to add a far more fantastic spin on the proceedings.

The crux of the original tale is the centers around the greed and deviousness of Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano) who uses the strict rules of his land to disgrace the rival lord in the neighboring province. The film’s version increases the level of machination by Kira by several degrees adding the use of a witch (Rinko Kikuchi), poison, mind control, and dark magic to force Lord Asano’s (Min Tanaka) rash actions.

By striking Kira, or in the film making an attempt on his life while under enchantment, Asano’s honor is lost, his lands are given to his rival, and his samurai are exiled from province.
