The collection includes both the original and director’s cut of the film, new and previously-released special features, and SteelBook art by Oliver Barrett. While not the first film to offer a dystopian future in which combatants fight for the death, Battle Royale is highly regarded (despite, or possibly because of, the controversy surrounding its release that delayed it being shown in American cinemas for more than a decade).

Filmed in location in both Recife and São Paulo, cinematographer Evgenia Alexandrova used vintage cameras and equipment to help recreate the look of the 1970s in which the story unfolds.

Inspired by the life of Marty Reisman, Timothée Chalamet stars as two-bit con-artist and aspiring ping-pong champion Marty Mauser. One of the best players in a sport largely ignored in the United States, our part-time shoe salesman cons and schemes on ways to improve his “Marty Supreme” brand while struggling to find the financing to make it to the World Table Tennis Championships in Japan.
