Highlander - For Tomorrow We Die television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to a man born in the Highlands of Scotland more than 400 years ago and a murderous game between sword-wielding immortals where there can be only one. The first Highlander set up basic rules for immortals to follow along with a sort of honor code that even the most vile obeyed. With “For Tomorrow We Die” the series introduces a character who will stretch those boundaries in Xavier St. Cloud (Roland Gift). Interested only in money, and willing to kill anyone who gets in his way, Xavier’s favorite weapon of choice is poison gas which he uses to rob a jewelry store in the episode’s opening scene. The paths of MacLeod (Adrian Paul) and Xavier have crossed before when the immortal gassed an entire regiment during World War I in order to steal the money the soldiers were to be paid (he also wasn’t above attempting to take MacLeod’s head while he was still recovering from the toxin).

Far Sector #6

Far Sector #6 comic reviewFar Sector #6 offers a quiet, contemplative issue before its final pages set-up the series’ next big action sequence. In the wake of the riots, and the government’s brutal response to them (something all too topical considering what is happening now), the City Enduring’s referendum on the Emotion Exploit is less than a week away.

Neither the comic’s mysteries nor the politics of the alien world are explored much in the latest issue. Instead, Far Sector #6 turns inward to focus on its heroine and her struggle to deal emotionally with a charged situation millions of light years from Earth on the farthest reach of the galaxy.

Rick and Morty - Promortyus television review

Remember that episode where Rick (Justin Roiland) and Morty (Roiland) made out and shat on the carpet? “Promortyus” opens with both characters controlled by facehugger aliens before breaking free, pretending to be still under the thrall of the collective (not all that convincingly), and blasting their way out doing as much guilt-free carnage as possible to the planet’s civilization as possible (except for choosing not to go 9/11 on them). On after returning home to the pair realize they left Summer (Spencer Grammer) back on the Glorzos homeworld.

Danger Man - The Deputy Coyannis Story television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is sent to the Balkans to investigate murder and the surrounding rumors of misappropriation of IMF funds. “The Deputy Coyannis Story” offers a complicated tale with several twist and turns as Drake struggles to figure out who he can trust. While the populist leader (John Phillips) suggests proof of the Minister (Charles Gray) misappropriating IMF funds led directly to his son’s (Stuart Hutchison) murder, the Minister paints a far different picture of the country’s peasants being against change and refusing the help offered through them in the forms of modern farming equipment and supplies.
