Secret Six #4

Secret Six #4 picks up with our rag-tag group being taken down by Jeannette. Following the advice of Dreamer, Jon Kent gets himself and Catman out allowing the rest of the issue to focus on this unlikely pairing. Thomas Blake hanging out with Superman’s kid is certainly not something I would have expected from this, or really any DC comic. The pairing does help flesh out the story by helping Jon get a better understanding in general of how the Secret Six work, and more importantly Blake’s relationship with Deadshot

Rand al’Thor‘s (Josha Stradowski) journey continues across the Ariel Waste with their new guides who lead them to the city of Rhuidean. While he and Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike) are permitted entry where they will face challenges to prove their worth. While Rand walks through a the past, living through generations of his timeline and learning about his parents, the creation of the city of the clouds, and the oath sworn long ago and how it was broken, Moiraine has visions of many possible futures. While we spend the bulk of time with Rand, we only see flashes of Moiraine’s visions which include a possible romance with Rand and several timelines which end at the hands of Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe) who we notably also see in Rand’s past vision as well. Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), who has avoided her true path for too long, also takes a similar journey through the rings as Moiraine (although we are not privy to her visions).

“The Great Fleece” is a an episode of reunion as having deciphered their communication network Sherlock Holmes (David Thewlis) lays a trap allowing for the return of both Dr. Watson (Seán Duggan) and Mrs. Hudson. However, the episode is also one of revelation where the true villain of the series is revealed to be Michael Wylie (Joe Klocek) whose various machinations are nothing more than theater and distraction allowing him first to rob the Bank of England and then later return the money but not before profiting greatly during its short absence. We’re even given a scene with the young man gloating over his victory to his father (Dougray Scott) that also teases to the connection to America and the Red Thread’s interest in killing Clara’s (Gia Hunter) mother.

In just a fun stand-alone issue Darkwing Duck #4 jumps us into the middle of an adventure with Darkwing and Launchpad taking on Steelbeak before moving on to the main storyline where, after sharing their mutual hatred for he who flaps in the night, Quackerjack and Lilliput decide to team-up to take out St. Canard’s hero.

Over her objections, Amelia (Blu Hunt) leaves 221B Baker Street and moves into the Anderson residence to begin her new role as Clara’s (Gia Hunter) chaperone where she quickly run into clues during Clara’s etiquette training. She is present for a murder, uncovers ties to The Thread, discovers a twin blade to the one used to kill her mother, and is nearly be abducted all in one episode. As for young Dan (Joe Klocek), Sherlock Holmes (David Thewlis) has some words for him concerning both the boy’s father and his growing closeness to Amelia. Through the use of his new telephone, in ways the company would not approve of, Holmes does some investigating of his own uncovering connections that back up Amelia’s findings pointing to Lady Violet Somerset (Fiona Glascott) having a connection to the insidious organization both wish to see exposed.
