Bob’s Burgers – Mr. Fischoeder’s Opus

Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) doing a favor for Mr. Fischoeder (Kevin Kline) hasn’t always worked out well for the Belchers, but seeing how he’s willing to waive two months rent, Bob jumps at the chance to cater an event for the local orchestra which Fischoeder will be conducting (although he needs the night to go smoothly to attempt to talk them into performing a traditional peace at a faster tempo). I’m not sure why Bob and Linda (John Roberts) thought it was a good idea to bring Louise (Kristen Schaal), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Tina (Dan Mintz) along with them to the event in Fischoeder’s home, but it does give them a B-story in which their host uses them to keep Felix (Zach Galifianakis) busy and away from the party.

Stone Sunday takes us north to the sleepy town of Paradise, Massachusetts and the fourth of Robert B. Parker‘s novels featuring Police Chief Jesse Stone. Stone Cold is similar to Trouble in Paradise in we do get a couple at the heart of the story, however this time the pair aren’t part of a heist crew but serial killers who get off on stalking and killing their victims. Wealthy, bored, and sharing the same murderous fetish, Brianna and Anthony Lincoln shoot down multiple victims in the city until finally targeting Jesse Stone.

Usagi Yojimbo: Ten Thousand Plums #3

The truth becomes known as Gen finds the body of the headman’s daughter in the wood as Miyamoto Usagi, while attempting to warn the town the killer is in their midst, discovers she’s been hiding in plain sight. Once exposed, the shapeshifter proves to be a problem for even our heroes. We get plenty of action in the issue that seems to wrap up the story (but apparently not this arc with has two more issues to come). We also get a quite humorous remark from Gen about how adventures seem to find Usagi which made me laugh out loud.

While its themes fit quite easily into the Disney canon, from a story perspective Lilo & Stitch was a major departure from your typical Disney film during the studio’s more experimental period of the early 2000s. The film focuses on an escaped alien creation of mass destruction who finds acceptance and family on Earth. Renamed Stitch (Chris Sanders) by a lonely young Hawaiian girl named Lilo (Daveigh Chase) who mistakes him for a dog, the concept by co-writer/co-director Chris Sanders explores friendship and family through their unlikely pairing.

“To know is one thing, but to believe is completely different.”

The 2022 Swedish sci-fi film released in America for the first time asks questions about whether or not we are alone in the universe, but even more so it explores how we treat those who dare raise the question. The film has it where it counts exploring both the intellectual curiosity and emotional need of its characters as they search for the answer of what’s really out there.
