Deception - Loading Up television review

The FBI and their magician consultants go after an Venezuelan spy (Victoria Cartagena) who takes her sweet time in setting up a revenge against every CIA agent involved in a classified operation that got her team killed. The theft of a top-secret piece of technology and luring the FBI in to arrest her provide the spy with the names of the agents involved in the mission. It just so happens that one of those agents is the ex (Brett Dalton) of FBI Agent Kay Daniels (Ilfenesh Hadera). Watching the awkwardness between the pair makes the Amazing Cameron Black (Jack Cutmore-Scott) realize he has been deceiving himself about his feelings for Kay (although the show still has work to do to sell me on chemistry between the two).

Poe Dameron #27

Poe Dameron #27 comic reviewSet after the events of The Last Jedi, the latest arc of Poe Dameron picks up with the remnants of the Resistance aboard the Millennium Falcon sharing stories to help fill in gaps here and there during the events of The Force Awakens.

While the last issue focused on explaining how Poe Dameron made it off of Jakku, Poe Dameron #27 offers the return of a familiar Falcon co-pilot, Rey and Poe getting to know each other a little more, and another tale from the events of the first film involving the pilot Temmin Wexley and Black Squadron‘s reconnaissance of Starkiller Base prior to the Resistance’s attack.

Batman Beyond - Black Out television review

Today’s Throwback Tuesday post takes us back to the future for another episode of Batman Beyond. With Wayne-Powers and Foxtecha up for the same lucrative contract involving the building of a new lunar station, Derek Powers (Sherman Howard) enlists the help of a corporate saboteur known as Inque (Shannon Kenny) to cripple the competition. After getting his butt kicked twice by the shape-shifting mercenary, the new Batman (Will Friedle) is forced to return home and regroup. It will take both Dark Knights (with Bruce wearing the familiar goggles and hat of his childhood hero) to fight off the villain after she sneaks into the Batcave.

The Wild Storm #13

The Wild Storm #13 comic reviewThe war between I.O. and Skywatch heats up as Jacklyn King gets a close look at Henry Bendix‘s quick and brutal reprisal for I.O. hacking into Skywatch. This, of course, will lead to an I.O. retaliation as well. Elsewhere Jenny Mei Sparks and Shen Li-Min go recruiting as the comic’s version of the Authority may be finally taking shape. By the looks of things, the world will need them sooner rather than later.

Arrow - Life Sentence television review

Arrow mixes things up a bit in the Sixth Season finale with Oliver (Stephen Amell) leading Team Arrow into battle with the FBI against Diaz (Kirk Acevedo). Although Diaz’s power is broken at the end of the season, the finale doesn’t wrap up the villain’s arc, allowing the crimelord to return and plague Star City next season. As for Oliver, Arrow writers follow The Flash‘s lead by sending the hero to prison (although Oliver is actually guilty of the crimes he’s imprisoned for). That also seems to mean the return of the rest of Team Arrow (which I have very mixed feelings about) to protect the city in the hero’s absence (although I doubt it will last more than a couple of episodes).
