Rick and Morty - The Rickchurian Mortydate TV review

The Third Season finale of Rick and Morty puts Rick (Justin Roiland) and Morty (Roiland) at odds with the President of the United States (Keith David) whose latest assignment they blow-off to play Minecraft. After being declared enemies of the state, Rick and Morty continue to undercut the President by saving the world before he gets a chance such as brokering peace with a miniature nation in Brazil. Fuel is only added to the fire when the President attempts to have his Secret Service kill Rick in the Oval Office (which only leads to lots, and lots, of dead Secret Service agents).

Lucifer - They're Back, Aren't They? TV review

Season Three begins with a twist. While the cliffhanger of Lucifer‘s (Tom Ellis) kidnapping at the end of Season Two is central to the plot of the season premiere, it’s not what we expect. Lucifer returns after two days in the desert to find that no one missed him. Chloe (Lauren German) just assumed he flaked again and doesn’t put much credence in his story. The discovery of a murdered man buried in the desert does help convince the detective that there is a case, although Lucifer has other problems to deal with as well besides his partner’s distrust.

Infamous Iron Man #12

Infamous Iron Man #12 comic reviewAfter last issue’s reveal of just who has been toying with Doctor Doom this entire time, Infamous Iron Man offers a team-up between Doom and Doctor Strange against Mephisto (who appears quite put out by the idea that Victor von Doom could perhaps redeem himself).

With much of the early panels featuring Mephisto talking directly to the reader and the later panels focused on Sharon Carter and S.H.I.E.L.D. being unable to process what they have just witnessed, Infamous Iron Man leaves things more open-ended than I expected. Realizing that Tony Stark‘s return is a forgone conclusion, just what will happen to the would-be Iron Man when the original returns as part of Marvel Legacy?

The Wild Storm #7

The Wild Storm #7 comic reviewThe Wild Storm #5 offers a bit of breather for readers. And murder. Lots of murder. The introduction of Jackie King, Chief Analyst at I.O. allows the comic to go over the events of recent issues and the growing number of threats I.O. has to solve, primarily that of Angela Spica. While not dwelling too much on what we already know, this works as a nice refresher for those who have read the previous six issues and a primer for those just coming on-board for the first time.

The issue gets nearly all its action from another new character. One of the team who Angela has found herself with gets in trouble while on an undercover mission discovering a dangerous weapon at an I.O. black site. There’s plenty of hallway mayhem and murder before John Colt can find a location safe enough for extraction.

Rick and Morty - The ABCs of Beth television review

Just who is Beth (Sarah Chalke)? For nearly three full seasons Rick and Morty has shown us who people want her to be, but who is she really? The discovery that her childhood imaginary world was actually a pocket dimension created by Rick (Justin Roiland) to keep her away from harming other kids (with ray guns and a whip to make others like her, yeesh), and that a childhood friend believed to have been killed by his father has been trapped there for decades is the start of a father/daughter adventure in which Beth realizes just how much like her father she truly is. Who is Beth? Turns out she’s very much her father’s daughter.
