Wonder Woman #27

Wonder Woman #27 comic reviewWonder Woman #27 picks up immediately following the events of the previous issue with Diana protecting an entire room full of people from a bomb. Racing to get medical attention for Etta at Mega Ultatech, Wonder Woman will discover not only the identity of the bomber but the reason behind the attack as the (foreshadowed) truth about Dr. Crawford is revealed.

Although her method of attack really only makes sense when you think about the last-ditch measures of a dying woman, Dr. Crawford’s true reason for bringing Diana back to the lab is an intriguing mix of selfishness, desperation, and bat-shit insanity as the doctor attempts to steal some of Wonder Woman’s strength to stop the degenerative illness slowly killing her. It works, for a time, also granting the mad scientist Amazon powers, and gives the second comic in this arc far more action that the first in the battle between the two women.

Infamous Iron Man #10

Infamous Iron Man #10 comic reviewMothers and sons. Infamous Iron Man #10 picks up events with Victor von Doom spending some time outside this dimension recuperating from his time with S.H.I.E.L.D. The fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. agents attempted to murder a helpless prisoner has been quickly forgotten as the Thing is sent after Doctor Doom to finish the job Doom’s mother prevented from happening aboard the Hellicarrier.

Admittedly distrustful of the creature claiming to be his mother, it still takes nearly the entire comic for Doom to get the woman to slip-up. Now things can get interesting. However, before the slip, Cynthia does get Victor to reveal a bit about his larger plans as Iron Man.

Dark Matter - Isn't That a Paradox? television review

While not as amusing as the time-loop episode from earlier this season, “Isn’t That a Paradox?” is a goofy episode. The (often malfunctioning) Blink Drive has proved to be an intriguing plot element used to allow the show to do some more unusual stories. This time the malfunctioning device sends the crew of the Raza back in time to 2017 where they attempt to fit into suburban life while seeking out a second Blink Drive whose connection to theirs caused their unexpected journey in time. It’s an interesting idea that feels a little rushed (think of how much fun it would have been for them to be stranded in the past for multiple episodes).

Preacher - Sokosha television review

The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) finally tracks Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) down. However, thanks to the show’s inconsistencies on how easy and well the cowboy can track it does allow Jesse, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) plenty of time to do a little research (in the public library no less) and discover just who the killer is and what he is after. While there are certainly goofy and highly-coincidental aspects to the episode (the public library sure has lots of resources about a mythological murdering cowboy, and Jesse suddenly knows how to get souls), “Sokosha” is a tense episode which works by finally putting Jesse up against the Saint of Killers and finding a way to beat the cowboy… at least for now.
