Batman - The Cat and the Claw

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we turn out attention back to the Dark Knight’s more memorable moments on the big and small screen with another episode from Batman: The Animated Series. The first episode of the series to air (banking on the success of Batman Returns), “The Cat and the Claw Part 1” introduced both fans and Batman (Kevin Conroy) to the first appearance of Catwoman (Adrienne Barbeau) while playing on the cat burglar’s attraction for the Caped Crusader and Bruce Wayne’s romantic interest in her alter-ego Selina Kyle.

Batman - Batman Is Riled

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we continue to look back at the more memorable moments on the big and small screen. The third two-part episode arc of 1966 Batman TV-series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin introduced Cesar Romero as the Joker. After escaping incarceration during a prison softball game the Joker returns to seek revenge learning his name hasn’t been included in the first inductees for the Gotham City Museum of Modern Art’s Comedians Hall of Fame.

Batman ’66 #12

Batman '66 #12Neither Marsha, Queen of Diamonds nor the Minstrel rank high the list of Batman‘s rogues gallery, but that doesn’t stop the latest issue of Batman ’66 from delivering another fun issue. The main story focuses on Marsha’s obsession with locating the world’s largest diamond which just happens to be housed in the Batcave.

Although the villain and her minions break into the Batcave and steal the diamond, writer Jeff Parker works in a reasonable explanation why Martha doesn’t know her exact location or choose to stick around to learn the true identity of the Dynamic Duo. The thread of the time-freezing potion created by Marsha’s witchy Aunt Hilda is less effective, but does make Martha a bit more formidable.

Batman - The Cool, Cruel Mr. Freeze

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we turn out attention back to the Dark Knight’s more memorable moments on the big and small screen turning our attention to The Adventures of Batman. One-half of the short-lived The Batman/Superman Hour, The Adventures of Batman featured the Dynamic Duo against Batman’s rogues gallery in 6-minute and 13-minute episodes. Casting Olan Soule as Batman and Casey Kasem as Robin the Boy Wonder for the first time, the pair would reprise the roles on Scooby-Doo and the various SuperFriends shows over the years.

Batman - P.O.V.

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we turn out attention back to the Dark Knight’s more memorable moments on the big and small screen with another episode from Batman: The Animated Series. When a bust goes bad three of GCPD’s finest offer their conflicting accounts to Internal Affairs. While Harvey Bullock‘s (Robert Costanzo) account places the blame on Batman (Kevin Conroy) and his support which he believes was late to arrive (although the visuals during his narration don’t quite jibe to that series of events), Renee Montoya (Ingrid Oliu) and rookie officer Wilkes (Robby Benson) offer different versions of events.
