Throwback Tuesday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man.The suspicious death of an agent in a car accident sends John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) to Sicily where he matches wits with a wealthy business owner (Dermot Walsh) using his canning business to smuggle guns. With the help of the victim’s girlfriend (Beverly Garland), while avoiding the tactics of a corrupt police officer (Paul Stassino) and the businessman’s thugs looking for any excuse to lock Drake away until the next shipment is underway, Drake is able to discover the truth including what really happened to his old friend.

When an important diplomatic package is part of a downed plane’s cargo stolen by bandits, John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) heads to the coast of Sicily to find those responsible and retrieve the intelligence. Unable to directly contact the Morelli brothers (Ronald Fraser and Derren Nesbitt), Drake’s plan is to earn the confidence of a confederate by posing as a rich businessman in need of the documents for an impending deal. Helping the woman (Lisa Gastoni) escape from prison goes a long way to help sell Drake’s cover and earn enough trust for an introduction.

On the search for a traitor passing on secrets, the episode begins with John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) stealing a car in order for his men to examine all items within and find a recording. Passing off the entire incident as nothing more than auto-theft by an American deserter, all the items (except the recording) are returned to the local man while Drake sets his attention on interpreter Ruth Mitchell (Moira Redmond). Although it’s clear it is her voice on the recording, Ruth vehemently denies any knowledge of the recording.
