Daredevil

Daredevil #3

Still dragging his feet in taking on The Hand, Daredevil gets sidetracked yet again in the latest issue when his recruitment for help leads him to stick his nose into Luke Cage‘s business as Mayor of New York with the Stromwyn. While Cage doesn’t have trouble with dealing with the pair, they do notice Daredevil spying on them. Other than being mystical and dangerous, there’s not much to the odd pair worthy of note.

Daredevil #2

In an issue that continues to put off Daredevil‘s battle with the Hand for at least another issue, Daredevil #2 (which Marvel Comics is also marketing as Daredevil #650 had it not rebooted the hero every few years) deals with Robert Goldman and the fallout from his recent actions. The idea of a villain, or anti-hero, working behind-the-scenes to pull a hero’s puppet strings for his own purposes would have more impact if it hadn’t been done so often in comics (see Moon Knight‘s recent arc). Goldy doesn’t see himself as a villain and believes his actions, such as crashing a subway, are all in Daredevil’s best interests.

The Variants #2

There’s quite a lot happening all at once to Jessica Jones. Some old lingering programing from the Purple Man has resurfaced threating everyone around her, variants of Jessica from around the Multiverse have begun appearing (although since Jessica is in no mood to talk with them, it’s not clear what they are after), she’s a little too happy to see Matt Murdock is still alive, and an old friend is attempting to recruit her into a new super-team.

Daredevil #1

Matt Murdock is dead to the world as Daredevil (who no one remembers is Matt Murdock) and Elektra prepare to leave New York and take their fight to the Hand. Before leaving the city, however, Daredevil spends one final night fighting crime with Spider-Man and tying up various loose ends. There’s not as much Daredevil/Spidey interaction as I would have liked here (especially between two men who have made deals with devils to hide their secret identities), but the pairing still works.

Devil’s Reign: Omega

Marvel’s event comes to a close with Daredevil alive but Matt Murdock dead to the world as the heroes bury Matt’s brother in his place so he and Elektra can begin their newest crusade against the Hand. Good luck with that.

As for New York, it’s got a new Mayor but even Luke Cage can’t fix things overnight as the Thunderbolts are still at large and vigilantism in the city is still outlawed. Time to get to work Mr. Mayor. Good luck with that.
