Lucifer - Once Upon a Time television review

The second of two “bonus” episodes taking place outside the show’s regular continuity offers us a look at a slightly different version of events where Chloe (Lauren German) remained an actress rather than becoming a police officer. After a friend is killed in Lux, Chloe attempts to play detective for real as does a certain nightclub owner who wants to exact some justice of his own. We also get variations of other supporting characters including a douchier Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and a less-sunny version of Ella (Aimee Garcia).

Lucifer - Boo Normal television review

You know what they say, any episode of Lucifer than includes a fight between Furries in the middle of a convention is a good episode of Lucifer. It’s hard to tell where exactly in continuity the first of these two Lucifer “bonus episodes” takes place. “Boo Normal” puts Ella (Aimee Garcia) front and center as the medical examiner struggles with pressure from her family to move back home to Detroit, dealing with the unexpected return of the ghost (Charlyne Yi) who used to haunt her after a childhood accident, and helping Chloe (Lauren German) with a murder case. With a little prompting from her metaphysical friend, Ella not only solves the crime but also chooses to share her secret with Chloe.

Lucifer - A Devil of My Word television review

Straight on the heels of news that FOX has decided not to renew the show, Lucifer presents its season (and now series) finale. Thanks to the evidence left behind from her investigation into Pierce (Tom Welling), it doesn’t take long for Dan (Kevin Alejandro), Lucifer (Tom Ellis), Ella (Aimee Garcia), and Chloe (Lauren German) all to come to the conclusion that the police captain murdered Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) and is framing a patsy for the crime. The result offers a final showdown between the Devil and the world’s first murderer in a finale that wraps up the Sinnerman arc but leaves several questions unanswered concerning the future of Lucifer and his detective.

There’s a bit of deja vu in play in “Quintessential Deckerstar” as Lucifer (Tom Ellis) attempts to force the old normality back onto his relationship with Chloe (Lauren German). We also get a murder of the week, an apparent home invasion gone wrong which will tie back into Charlotte‘s (Tricia Helfer) past as a defense attorney, and a series of events involving Pierce (Tom Welling) and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) which build on season-long arcs and will lead directly into next week’s season finale.

Red Sonja/Tarzan #1 comic reviewDespite some similarities, Red Sonja and Tarzan aren’t characters that naturally fit together, knowing this writer Gail Simon sidesteps the rather important question of just how these two characters are brought together and instead focuses on the why and the reason for their team-up. The first issue of Red Sonja/Tarzan introduces both characters to a common enemy in the hunter Eson Duul.

We are shown separate sequences of Duul and his men beating a drunken Sonja in the streets and years (and dimensions) away Duul harming the African animals and locals of the area who Tarzan considers family. While Tarzan gets a small victory over the man, it leads to only further trouble with the hunter who pushes back hard against the Lord of the Jungle. It does seem our two protagonists have a common foe.
