Despite the episode’s title, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) will survive to banter sarcastically for another day (although his super-hero days appear to be over for the time being). Instead, “The Death of Vibe” is memorable for two things. First, the return of Tom Cavanagh as yet another parallel Earth version of Harrison Wells who is brought in to help find Cicada (Chris Klein). And second, Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) coming to terms with her time travel affecting history, yep she’s definitely Barry‘s (Grant Gustin) daughter, and learning to slow down before impulsively racing into action. XS may have the makings of a super-hero after all (if she can get over those mommy issues the show keeps hinting strongly at).

“Blocked” opens with the season’s mystery villain Cicada (Chris Klein) breaking through a police convoy and beating last week’s baddie Gridlock (Daniel Cudmore) to death. When not moping over the fact that her daughter would rather spend time with the father she never knew, and has more in common with, Iris (Candice Patton) begins an investigation into the attack while Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) works her way into the lab to help Barry (Grant Gustin) as a CIA intern. While in costume the pair also take on a meta (Erin Cummings) using her block powers stealing high-tech weapons. As with last week’s episode, Team Flash takes down the villain of the week, but their first encounter with Cicada doesn’t go nearly as well. While Cicada’s look and wheezing aren’t that impressive, his ability to temporarily steal the powers of metahumans does offer a serious threat.

The Flash begins its Fifth Season with Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) getting to know their time-traveling daughter Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy). Temporarily stuck in the time, Nora (who spent last year quietly stalking Barry) introduces herself to the entire family. While at first Barry is reluctant to spend time with Nora, whose mere presence puts his future (and her past) in possible jeopardy, eventually the Flash warms to the idea of having his grown daughter around (especially after she spills the beans about why she really came back into the past). It appears Nora will be sticking around for awhile.

• Title: The Flash – We are the Flash

With the Enlightenment about to begin, Team Flash races to save the world in the show’s Fourth Season finale. For the Flash (Grant Gustin), that means entering DeVoe‘s (Neil Sandilands) mind while the rest of the team, with the help of Marlize (Kim Engelbrecht), attempt to stay hidden from the maniacal super-genius in order for Barry to pull a last-second save. Marlize’s help, and the reveal of Jessica Parker Kennedy as Barry and Iris‘s (Candice Patton) future daughter come as no big surprise. The return of Ralph (Hartley Sawyer), who Barry finds trapped in DeVoe’s mind, proves to be the real key to stopping the villain as Ralph reasserts control of his body. For a season that has spent many, many hours on setting Ralph Dinby as a character, it is nice to see him get his moment.
