The Flash - Think Fast television review

The penultimate episode of the show’s Fourth Season recycles both the good and bad of this year’s arc while setting up events for next week’s finale. Starting with DeVoe‘s (Neil Sandilands) break-in at the secret A.R.G.U.S. facility, Team Flash regroups and races against time as a reluctant Barry (Grant Gustin) gives Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker a crash-course in Flash Time in hopes of making the most out of the limited time they have left. Putting his friends in danger unfortunately means more of the mopey asshole Barry. Hopefully the team’s cathartic argument and successful execution of their plan (even if it wasn’t enough to ultimately stop DeVoe from beginning the Enlightenment) will cure our hero of more of this behavior in the future.

The Flash - Harry and the Harrisons television review

Reaching out for help in questionable places is the common theme throughout “Harry and the Harrisons.” First, Harry (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) attempt to enlist two separate versions of the Council of Wells in order to get some help with Harry’s diminishing intellect. Neither proves useful. Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) enlists the help of Amunet (Katee Sackhoff) whose powers might just be the key to stopping DeVoe (Neil Sandilands) from launching his satellites (and who may be able to help her reconnect with Caitlin’s chillier alter-ego). In order to get Amunet’s help, Team Flash must track down more of the villain’s missing shards which have been taken by a meta-human (Mark Sweatman) the group has crossed paths with before.

The Flash - Therefore She Is television review

Relationships are the main theme of “Therefore She Is” which not only brings back Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) from Earth-19 to help stop DeVoe (Neil Sandilands) who has begun stealing various classified components for his Englightenment but also offers flashbacks to DeVoe and Marlize‘s (Kim Engelbrecht) relationship over the years. The DeVoe/Marlize scenes help fill in some basic information about the pair’s relationship and how Marlize was eventually won over to her husband’s radical ideas. As has been foreshadowed several times over the course of the season, the super-villain’s recent actions finally create a split between the two (although apparently not enough of one for Marlize to stop the Enlightenment… at least not yet).

The Flash - Fury Rogue television review

The return of Earth-X’s Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), and the introduction of another villainous version of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), are welcome editions to an otherwise melancholy episode as members of Team Flash struggle do deal with their recent losses. For Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Harry (Tom Cavanagh) that means facing the parts of themselves that apparently have been lost, and for Barry (Grant Gustin) that means stuffing his pain over the loss of Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) deep down rather than grieve for his missing friend. At least sad Barry is more bearable than a-hole Barry.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash Blu-ray reviewThe latest of the LEGO DC Super-Hero straight-to-video movies, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash features the first appearance of the Reverse-Flash (Dwight Schultz) who tricks the Flash (James Arnold Taylor) into a time loop which allows the villain to damage his relationships with the rest of the Justice League and eventually steal the hero’s powers. After destroying the Flash’s good name, and then using his speed to beat the Justice League to all crimes, the Reverse-Flash makes a name for himself as the world’s greatest hero. Meanwhile, with a bit of help from Doctor Fate (Kevin Michael Richardson) and Zatanna (Kate Micucci), the Flash will work to earn back his speed not realizing that he’s playing straight into the villain’s hands.

The story of the Flash learning to slow down long enough to take stock of his surroundings and come up with a plan is hammered home without much subtlety, but there’s still quite a bit of fun to be had.
