Green Arrow #8

Green Arrow #8Green Arrow may be trapped on an island in the middle of the nowhere (again), but at least this time he isn’t alone. Green Arrow #8 begins a new story arc with Ollie, Dinah, and Diggle on a deserted island (which it turns out isn’t exactly deserted).

While Diggle is taken prisoner by a mechanical bear and dragged to underground lair, Ollie and Dinah reconnect and, thanks to their picturesque surroundings, are given the opportunity to have the kind of vacation neither hero would ever likely agree to. As to just who, and what, are on the island with them, we’ll have to await and see as “Island of Scars” plays out. Now that our heroes are back together, and have finished their brief respite, it’s time to get back to work.

Arrow - Legacy

After last year’s foray into magic and mysticism, Arrow returns to its roots for the Fifth Season opener. With all of his allies either dead or retired, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is burning the candle at both ends working days as the new mayor of Star City and nights as the Green Arrow. While the recent seasons have created more and more powerful adversaries for Green Arrow to fight, necessitating building a bigger and better team, the season premiere gets back to basics with a street-level villain in Tobias Church (Chad L. Coleman) who kidnaps the mayor in hopes of bringing the Emerald Archer to his rescue. If he only knew.

Green Arrow #6

Green Arrow #6Green Arrow #6 shifts the focus off of Green Arrow and Star City as it follows Emiko and Shado back to Tokyo. Burdened by the betrayal she’s committed, we’re given flashbacks of Emiko’s time with Ollie in Star City while she works out a way to put things right with the Yakuza who, unknown to her, Shado was still working for as a mole for the Ninth Circle.

The change of pace works well for the comic while helping fill us in on Emiko and where she currently stands. The flashbacks also give us glimpses of other mistakes she made in Star City including an attempt to prove herself worthy of being Green Arrow’s new sidekick by doing a little snooping which led both her, and Ollie, to fall under the influence of the Clock King.
