Iron Man

Avengers #35

Avengers #35 comic reviewThankfully the problematic racial overtunes of the last issue are left behind here as “The Age of Khonshu – Part Three: You Don’t Beat the Devil by Being an Angel” puts to focus back on Khonshu‘s attempts to accumulate power by sending Moon Knight after the Starbrand Baby protected by Iron Man and Carol Danvers. Despite his goal to protect the child, a freaked-out Tony Stark nearly hands the baby over to Moon Knight at the mere mention of Khonshu’s enemy.

Khonshu’s murder of Mephisto appears to have not have stuck as the Moon God is attacked by several different versions of Marvel’s Devil Incarnate. Are Khonsu’s fears about what Mephisto will do to the world well-founded? Or just the excuse needed to seize power and remake the world in his own image?

Black Cat #12

Black Cat #12 comic reviewBlack Cat versus Iron Man, ’nuff said. After stealing herself some Stark armor, Black Cat leads Iron Man across the city on a joyride filled with some fun banter and a solid twist that leaves old Shellhead shell shocked. It’s the perfect culmination to Felicia’s recent notable thefts.

Black Cat #12 is the best issue of the series. Sadly it’s also the final issue of the series. Despite being in the middle of the year-long arc of Felicia’s war with Odessa Drake and the Thieves Guild, Black Cat has apparently become a COVID casualty. Still, the story teased at the end of the issue, which would have appeared in Black Cat #12 featuring a fight with Queen Cat will apparently take place in the upcoming Black Cat: Queen in Black (although no word yet on Felicia’s war with the guild).

Black Cat #11

Black Cat #11 comic reviewThe comic’s opening arc continues as Black Cat has managed to steal all the pieces for the Randall Gate. Now all that’s missing for Black Fox‘s planned heist of the Thieves Guild is the key to turning the thing on. In a comic that has featured Felicia breaking in to the who’s who of the Marvel Universe, could there be anywhere else to retrieve it but Stark Unlimited?

Despite my having serious doubts about Stark security not being able to recognize Felicia Hardy in a wig, I’ll admit the comic has fun with Felicia playing on Tony Stark’s weakness for both redheads and women who enjoy verbally sparring with him. With the help of a little tech allowing her to temporarily pass for Stark where the building’s automated systems are concerned and a patsy to drag Iron Man’s attention elsewhere, Felicia is able to work her way to the Stark Nanoforge and forge the Dimensional Resonator.
