Moon Knight

Moon Knight #7

Moon Knight wants answers. The unknown villain calling himself Zodiac. has tortured Marc mentally, psychologically, and physically. He’s left him beaten with his home in ashes. Now Moon Knight wants answers and retribution.

Moon Knight #7 features Marc and his friends searching for answers about who this new villain is but running into several dead ends (some of them quite literal). There’s some fun moments here showcasing a variety of ways our hero searches for answers from talking over his problem with his therapist, threatening everyone in a secret underground club, and dangling a D-lister above an industrial shredder.

In the end Moon Knight doesn’t get any more information than he started with, but as Zodiac doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon, he shouldn’t have to want too long before their next run-in.

Moon Knight #6

Marc Spector has been betrayed and left beaten and bloody by Zodiac. The Midnight Mission is in shambles. However, back-up arrives from an unexpected source in his “brother,” the other Fist of Khonshu, Hunter’s Moon. Much of the issue takes place after the rescue of Hunter’s Moon allowing Moon Knight time to heal and the new friend to explain a bit about his backstory.

Zodiac remains at large as the issue comes to a close with Spector beginning to heal and put his life back together. It seems both Zodiac and Hunter’s Moon have plans for Moon Knight, whether he likes them or not. Will he fall as Zodiac hopes? Return to Khonshu’s fold as Hunter’s Moon desires? Or continue to carve out his own path? Only time will tell.

Avengers #35

Avengers #35 comic reviewThankfully the problematic racial overtunes of the last issue are left behind here as “The Age of Khonshu – Part Three: You Don’t Beat the Devil by Being an Angel” puts to focus back on Khonshu‘s attempts to accumulate power by sending Moon Knight after the Starbrand Baby protected by Iron Man and Carol Danvers. Despite his goal to protect the child, a freaked-out Tony Stark nearly hands the baby over to Moon Knight at the mere mention of Khonshu’s enemy.

Khonshu’s murder of Mephisto appears to have not have stuck as the Moon God is attacked by several different versions of Marvel’s Devil Incarnate. Are Khonsu’s fears about what Mephisto will do to the world well-founded? Or just the excuse needed to seize power and remake the world in his own image?

Avengers #33

Avengers #33 comic reviewOn the night of a Supermoon, a new storyline begins with Moon Knight targeting the mystical Avengers one-by-one. Avengers #33 opens in the Himalayas where Moon Knight takes down Iron Fist. Making stops to take down Doctor Strange, crush Thor, and steal Ghost Rider‘s car, the former Avenger continues to increase his power.

The issue features Moon Knight is several different looks including the classic all-white costume as the comic comes to an end with the character victorious. The comic doesn’t allow us into the mind of the character for most of the comic, although towards the end it does appear that his multiple personalities are all doing just dandy. And they all appear onboard with the current mission.
