Moon Knight

Moon Knight #9

Moon Knight #9 comic reviewFace-to-face with all three of his separate personalities, Marc Spector confronts each of them in hopes of regaining his sanity and taking full control of his life once more. While some go quietly, such as the strange futuristic version of himself obsessed with werewolves, others are less willing to simply fade from existence. All the battles in this issue occur internally in the odd Egyptianized landscape of New York (which is still unclear as to how much of this is real and in Marc’s imagination).

“Incarnations” concludes here with a Moon Knight on firmer ground than we’ve seen him in this series. Finally in control of his own mind, our hero can look to external threats such as Khonshu.

Moon Knight #8

Moon Knight #8 continues the schizophrenic adventures of our hero. Taking place mostly in Jake Lockley’s reality, the cab driver finds himself under arrest for murder and under suspicion for a series of recent killings. Escaping that reality, Moon Knight slingshots around both onto the movie set as Steven Grant and into the bizarre future fighting space werewolves. As the comic comes to a close, however, things get interesting as all three of his personalities comes face-to-face with Marc Spector back in the “real world” of Egyptian killers and pyramids in the middle of Manhattan. Whatever Marc has planned, he’ll obviously need the help of all aspects of himself to get it done. Worth a look.

Moon Knight #5Moon Knight #5 concludes the series’ introductory arc as Moon Knight and Marlene make it to the pyramid only to be confronted by… Moon Knight? Issue #5 is a bizarre end to a bizarre opening arc. Once again we’re unsure about the reality of what Marc Spector is experiencing. Taking his experience as real (or at least real to him) the comic does reveal the entity behind his recent torture to not be Seth but Khonshu who wants something from Marc he is unwilling to give up.

Featuring a bizarre run through the pyramid that becomes a journey through the various lives and identities Moon Knight has led over the years, the journey finally brings Marc face-to-face with his God who now wants more than just his allegiance. Khoshu wants his body.
